Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1983 Jeep CJ8 SCRAMBLER. NO RESERVE!!! If you are looking for these, you know how rare this Jeep is! This Jeep is the perfect project car, the Jeep starts right up and will drive with no issues. Looks good as is, just needs a little TLC to be absolutely stunning and fetch top dollar. Clear title in hand. I have owned this Scrambler for about 6 months and just have not had the time to treat her as she deserves. I have done little more than cosmetic touch ups and taking it for a ride every now and then to keep things in good working order. I bought this Jeep from a mechanic by trade. This is what I remember being done to it: Rebuilt front and rear differential Dropped in a rebuilt AMC 360 V8. Less than 30,000 since rebuild. Holly 4bbl carb with edelbrock air intake Fresh shocks All fluids flushed 2 1/2 inch body lift Dual exhaust with cats and mufflers I want to be totally honest so here is the good, bad, and the ugly: I have had no mechanical issues. The only spot in the driveway is from an occasional drip from the rear diff. Looks like it just needs some gasket sealant on it, nothing major. No drips from engine or tranny. Starts right up, no backfire, no stalling. Has light rust in usual Jeep places. Mostly bubbling, no big holes, easy fixes. I checked under the carpet and the floor pans are solid. Looks like some work has been done on them. Some rust in the back bed, nothing major, the rhinolining seems to be taking care of it. Every gauge works except gas gauge! If you know Jeeps you'll know that is a miracle that any of these work! Power brakes, 4spd tranny. Many original parts. Tires are worn, maybe 20% tread left. Paint is ok, but body could use some final touches and a fresh coat to be beautiful. This CJ8 is a true diamond in the rough! If you are looking for a running project that you can drive to work during the week and work on during the weekends, this is the perfect Jeep. I am also selling a bunch of parts that can go with the sale, or be sold seperatly. Contact me if interested in any of the items. These items are NOT INCLUDED in the sale of the Jeep and are first come first serve. I can include with the Jeep for a negotiated price. - 4 x 7 inch shackles. Stock are 4 inch, so these will give you an automatic 1.5 inch lift. These are heavy duty, made of hardened metal. I will include 4 bushings I have laying around with these. ($100) - 2 x 6 leaf springs with overload leaf. That is a total of 7 leafs! These are heavy duty and have the first and second leaf wrapped around the spring eye. This is usually done in Jeeps with SOA lifts to counteract axle wrap. Can't be certain, but look like Old Man Emu springs or Rubicon Express. Heavy duty! ($250) - Kayline spice full soft top with full soft doors. I would give the doors 9 of 10 and the top a 7 of 10. The top has a small rip in the back window and a rip in the side window (pictured). I haven't tried to install, but the guy I got the top from swears that all harware was included. I doubt it, but can't confirm either way. These tops are no longer in production and are highly desireable! ($350) - Heavy duty front bumper with 10,000 lbs Chicago winch. Winch works! I hardwired the winch and unspooled and respooled all the wire. This bumper weights 200+ lbs, made for some heavy duty wheeling!
