We are a dealership, and as such have not owned the cars for an extended time or driven them extensively. We do not recondition our eBay cars to showroom condition, they are sold as-is. This auction is for a 2002 Lexus IS300 with the rare manual transmission option. 2002 was the first year that the manual option was offered. The IS300 is Lexus' interpretation of the European sports sedan. It was designed to compete against the BMW 3-series, Audi A4/S4, Saab 9-3, and Mercedes C-class. It captures the spirit of those vehicles and combines it seamlessly with Japanese practicality and reliability. The IS300 is powered by the Toyota/Lexus 2JZ-GE straight six engine with VVT-i variable valve timing. The 2JZ engine family has been used in many Lexus and Toyota models including the SC300, GS300, and the legendary Toyota Supra. It is a butter smooth, powerful, quiet motor with 217hp and 218 lb-ft of torque on tap from barely over idle all the way to red line. It doesn't matter what gear you're in or what speed you're going, press the gas pedal and you will get instant linear acceleration. The 5-speed gear box shifts smoothly. The shifter clicks easily into each gear and the clutch grabs smooth and tight at the mid-point of the pedal throw. With a light foot, you can make this car shift more gently than an automatic, but when you want a more response, it is there right away. This IS300 is in amazing condition, especially for year and mileage. I will rarely ever say this, but I think this car is a true 9 out of 10. It is not a show car, but the previous owner certainly took excellent care of it. It has a few small paint blemishes in the metallic blue paint: rock chipping on the hood and a mark on the bumper. The 5-spoke alloy wheels are in good condition. No major scratches or damage, but there is some curb rash around the outer lip of the rims. The Goodyear Eagle RS-A (rear) and Fierce Instinct ZR (front) tires are in good shape with plenty of tread. They provide excellent traction in both wet and dry conditions. The interior is beautifully appointed in black leather with chrome and blue suede accents. The heated leather seats are in astoundingly good condition. The leather is soft and supple, there are no rips or tears, and the front seat bolsters are still firm. There is no smell of smoke, food, mildew, or pets. The only signs that this car has been driven regularly is the wear on the chrome shift ball and drivers removable floor mat is wearing through where your heels rest while shifting. There are other small imperfections, but significantly less than would be expected for age/mileage. The power windows, mirrors, locks, and sunroof all work flawlessly. The stereo speakers are clear and have no distortion or crackling. The 6-disc CD changer has an error and will not load or play discs. This is common for this car, and does not effect the radio or cassette player. The power seats work properly, as do the seat heaters. Mechanically this car has been properly maintained. I cannot see any non-spec parts or poor repairs in the engine bay or under the car. There are no known aftermarket modifications.All the systems work properly. The brakes grab tightly and do not squeal or vibrate. The engine pulls strong, revs quietly, and idles butter smooth. The transmission shifts smoothly, has a strong clutch, and does not have any noise or vibration. The steering is crisp and responsive. There is no pull or vibration in the front end. The suspension is tight without being harsh. Struts, springs, bushings, tie rods, other suspension components all appears to be in proper order and nothing is loose or making any noise. I have driven this car for several days, including a 300 mile trip to and around the Philly area, recently and I would feel comfortable taking this car anywhere, anytime. I encourage anyone that is thinking about purchasing it to come take it for a drive in person. You will fall in love with it as I have.
