Here is a neat old truck! I saved this 1940 Chevy 1 1/2 Ton truck from the crusher with the idea for a rat rod, but decided I have too many projects going. I don't know how long this had been sitting, but the guy I bought it from had also bought it on another auction. It has a Nebraska license plate of 1965 on it. The odometer shows 54568.7 but I have no idea if that is correct or working. The pictures pretty much tell the story, but here is what I can tell you about it. Body: Cab is pretty solid for the age; floor is gone; windshield cranks in and out and not rusted up but center is bent; cowl vent opens; windows are all gone but back window has an interesting "headache rack"; doors open and close but have some rust holes on bottom (I have 2 other sets of doors 41-46 but should work on this that would be for sale when you come get the truck, $100 per door); belt line is good; hood is very good, opens freely and locks turn great and ornament in nice shape; fenders are pretty solid with a few dents/rust; running boards are solid; grille is complete, chrome flaking off and 3 bent pieces on drivers side; headlights are missing the glass, but good shape with some rust on bottom, turn signals are very nice but missing lense; bumper chrome is bad but very straight, roof is not dented like most but missing clearance lights so therefore rusted on inside around windshield wiper motors. Drivetrain: engine looks complete but I believe is stuck as the driveshaft is cut; top of transmission is removed and very rusty inside but top is included; rearend rolls fine; brakes not working; tires hold air but are aged, so this needs to be hauled on a trailer. This is a dual rear end and I have other rims that could go with the truck if wanted. Interior: seat is not shown in pictures but is included, pretty much just frame and springs; gauges are complete; glovebox opens but button not working at this time; no keys for ignition; gas tank installed but condition unknown. This truck is way to complete (even the original jack) and nice condition to scrap and would make a nice rat rod or restore. This is a NO RESERVE auction. I could part this out for well over $1000, but would love to see this truck get rebuilt! The paint was very dull so I wiped it down for the pictures and the patina on this truck is very nice for you rat rodders. The top paint is black, but there is some green coming through as I believe that was the original color. This truck rolls and steers fine to load onto your trailer. I can assist with loading onto your trailer. As you can see it fits on my 18' car trailer but a little bigger would be better. This truck weighs approximately 4000 lbs.; approx. 20' long; 80" tall and 84" at its widest point. If you want only parts off this you can come and get what you want and I will dispose of the rest. If you only want the title and vin tag I would even send that to you. The vin # on the title is the # stamped into the engine block, but the Model # 5WB014619 on the title is the # stamped into the tag. Either way, the final bid is what you will pay no matter how much of the truck you take. This truck needs to be picked up within 6 months of auction ending. I will not ship this truck or provide a shipper. I will deliver/meet you within a 150 mile radius of zip 68330 for an additional $2.00 per loaded mile. A $200 deposit is due within 7 days of auction end with the balance due within 30 days. This truck has been sitting out in the weather for many years, and will continue to do so until you pick it up. I will not be held responsible for acts of: vandalism; theft; or acts of mother nature. I don't have problems where this is located, but one can never know.
