Vehicle Detail

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 1973 350 V-8 Landcruiser FJ-55 $5000 starting bid, no reserve. Strong running cruiser Clear title in hand. Chevy 350 conversion. 4 bolt main and roller rockers. The engine has new valve seals, new fuel pump, new valve covers and gaskets, new fuel lines and filter, new K&N air filter, new belts, new cap, rotor, wires and plugs. 4 speed manual transmission. It’s a GM SM465 very desirable 4 wheeling transmission with a crawler “granny” gear in 1st. NP205 Transfer case. Front axle is from a late 70’s cruiser (has disc brakes). The front axle has been completely rebuilt- all new seals and bearings (high quality bearings). Knuckles dismantled, cleaned and all seals/bearings replaced. Warn locking hubs. Rear axle was disassembled, bearings and seals replaced and rear brakes converted to disc. Calipers will accept an emergency brake connection although it is not hooked up right now. New brake master cylinder from an FJZ80. Tranny fluid and transfer case fluids changed. Differential fluids changed. Interior has been Line-X’d and done the right way (I removed every bit of paint from the interior tub and prepped the surface with cleaner and abrasives per Line-X’s recommendation to insure full adhesion) I have pictures of this process. New metal welded in to repair rust. Seats have been completely dismantled, cleaned, painted and professionally re-upholstered (I chose the materials of ultra durable snow mobile rated vinyl with a tough thickly woven cloth- almost like a burlap texture where people sit- very comfortable, ultra durable, and looks GREAT). I doubt you will find nicer FJ55 seats ANYWHERE. Front has twin four point harnesses. Electric rear window works flawlessly. Brand new front and rear brakes, calipers and rotors. Has a roof rack and tow hitch with wiring harness. Interior windows have all been greased and adjusted and work well. Tube bumpers front and rear. Most of the above maintenance has been done within the last 500 miles and done by a professional mechanic and welder. I have a power steering gearbox (not installed) from a toyota minitruck. If you pick up a saginaw power steering pump on ebay or from a junk yard and acquire the adapter from Joe TLC for an FJ55 and have a couple PS lines fabricated, then you can pretty much bolt on a power steering set up to this rig. There are instructions for this common modification available online. The vehicle drives now and drives just fine. The engine is very strong. The rig does have exterior rust in the usual places, mostly surface rust but there are some small (emphasis on small) holes developing in the rear quarter panels (just behind the mud flaps. Clear coat is coming off on the hood. Also, the drivers side fender has a dent in it. I have not tried to remove it and bang it out yet, basically I’ve lost interest in the rig, and it’s cosmetic so I don’t care. It would benefit from a new headliner (but the current headliner is passable). Also, I have all of the interior door panels out of the vehicle as I was deciding if I was going to have them reupholstered or replaced with ABS plastic paneling (I just purchased the ABS plastic and will be cutting it and installing it). The previous owner fabricated his own instrument cluster, I recently acquired an FJ55 cluster but have not swapped it in yet. This truck would benefit from new tires and perhaps an add-a-leaf to the rear springs as they are sagging a bit. Leaks a small (emphasis on small!) amount of oil (does not seem to burn oil, it just leaks a bit). The door seals that go around the frame have been removed by a previous owner, I acquired some used ones in rough to passable shape that will be included with the cruiser for you to install at your liesure. Also, when we restored the seat, we decided to raise it becasue the old seat sat so low and to add a support bar for strength and to attach the 4 point harnesses to. Well, we raised it a bit too much (2"). I'm 6'2" tall and if I sit with perfect posture, my head barely touches the roof in the cruiser. If you are 6' or less, no issue. I've brainstormed some ways to modify this to lower it down, these old rigs are all about running into problems and using ingenuity to solve them, but I've lost interest so, be advised the height inconvenience unless you modify the seat base to lower it. If someone took care of this small laundry list of to do’s, I have no doubt this cruiser would appraise in the $10k-$12k price range. You can keep restoring it, or drive it as is, it commands respect and is ready for action as it sits now. Why am I selling: I have too many vehicles and recently took up motorcycling so something has to give. My goal with this cruiser was to put together something that was nice to look at, but also tough so it could fulfill it’s God given mandate of camping, climbing and off-roading. Please ask questions to make sure this is what you want. I can send additional pictures and even video if requested. Email me your phone number, and some good times to call and we can have a chat about this rig. I'm happy to answer all the questions you have because this is a transaction and I want you to be confident in it, especially if you will have the vehicle shipped to you sight unseen. It's your responsibility to ask and understand what you are commiting to. I’m going to regret selling this. Oh and here's the part to make sure we all play nice together... Shipping must be arranged by and paid for by the buyer, and the vehicle must be picked up from my location (Salem, Oregon). Please no "zero feedback" or negative feedback bidders.
