Vehicle Detail
If you have been looking and waiting for a very special and rare investment quality Austin Healey, this one will be hard to beat. This stunning BJ-8 was produced in the very last production run of these fine cars and displays a vin tag with rounded ends and different lettering in the number sequence, than appeared in the squared end rectangular tags. The hex knock-offs are factory correct, as the 1968 model year deleted the twin eared knock offs to conform to the new safety regulations. This Healey is in exceptional condition. Take a moment to look down the sides of this perfect fitting example with flawless shut lines. Notice the Talbot bullet mirror, factory correct for these late cars. It is completely rust free with all original undercarriage still having all the original factory seam sealer and original paint without surface rust. The undercarriage is clean as original or could shine if clear coated. I don't have the heart or should I say the nerve to make it glossy like all the sparkling restorations done by shops that don't know how thes cars actually looked underneath when they left the factory. This Healey has remained together throughout the years and has been highly maintained including a complete and thorough engine rebuild with all new mounts to eliminate vibration, as well as all the suspension with special attention to proper king pin bushing reaming to prevent cowl shake. This low mileage BJ8 features its original working Motorola radio and still has all of its original upholstery without repair. Even the lower left mitten on the drivers seat shows no wear. I just replaced the original top because of a cloudy back window with an exact, all stitched duplicate in OEM Everflex. Check out the fit! The original is included with the sale if you want it. I also just replaced the original exhaust (one of the mufflers is still good) with a $2,500 NOS (new old stock) genuine Abarth system. There were two left in the world; this is one of them and this Healey deserves it, as all aftermarket systems suffer by comparison. Stored in the trunk are the original hood ((top) and tonneau cover and original factory jack and tools, along with the original battery tray and battery cover. This Healey operates as great as it looks. I've driven many of the total restoration versions and they can't compare to this one's, smooth, vibration free ride. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. Look at the photo's and see for yourself. I have many more of the undercarriage and wheel wells and can send them to anyone upon request. The ebay format only allows 24 photos and it was hard to choose. I'm well versed in worldwide shipping to your door, and am happy to arrange or assist in the process. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding, and those of you with less than 5 positive transactions on ebay should contact me first before bidding to let me know your intensions. Thanks again. I should also add that I have just taken this Healey in trade, on an all original unrestored 5,000 mile Phase I BJ8, believed to be the world's lowest mileage example. I would also like to add that in light of the present atmosphere on Wall St. you might want to adjust your portfolio to include this classic as an alternative investment with guaranteed appreciation over the long term, and also a tangible item that you can actually enjoy during the growth period.
