Vehicle Detail

This 1967 Ghia is in excellent condition as is evident from the pictures. Has been driven for fun only occassionally over the last several years. This car was originally a southern California car. I had observed this car for sale on Ebay two years or so before I purchased from the new owner in Bellingham Washington. He had purchased the car on Ebay from a seller in Southern California. There are a couple of stickers, one on the window and one on the rear bumber which bear out it's Southern California origin. This car has been strictly garaged and covered over the last seven years and as far as I know was also treated the same by the previous two owners. The body is nearly 100% straight. Entirely rust free. There is a very small ding near the front of the front fender which you have to look for to find. There are some door contact scratches on the drivers door, but not dings. The vehicle was resprayed in part sometime in the past, but the paint condition is very good overall. The windows and seals all appear original with german glass logos present on all. It is possible the door window seals and popout rear window seals were redone as they appear so fresh. The interior carpet seems to be a restoration package, but done in the original style. The seats front and rear appear as brand new and I believe them to be original gauging by their apperaance. The dashboard has the original faux wood finish, and it is cracking and with large piece missing over the glove box. Glove box is original and totally intact. Dome light is totally intact but not functioning. Maybe due to lightbulb wearing out. The Original seatbelts are present including the ultra rare original sliding latches which attach to the center chrome bar. Before finding this car I never had seen these present on any 1967 offered for sale. Back up lights are on rear bumber and do function. There is no rust or corrosion issue around the battery stand. The front nose is untouched. Take not of the condition of the paint behind the front wheels in the wheel wells. I have never seen original paint in this condition. The entire under carriage demonstrates similar condition. Original chrome headlight rings with "hella" logo. Original headlamps, as far as I know nearly impossible to acquire if you needed to. License plate lights also intact and present. Karmann Ghia logo pictured is in pristine condition. Ghia script on rear deck lid is in beautiful condition but the end of the G is missing (see photo). All chrome pieces are there and in fine condition. I believe the vanity rims and maybe the hubcaps are replacements for the originals. All 5 tires in fine shape with a lot of tread there. Has perfect original lining in the front trunk. Original jack is present and properly mounted next to the spare tire. Spare tire well is in perfect condition. I include a blaupunkt radio which had been original option equipment for a previoulsy owned 1967 Ghia of mine. This is a functioning radio and I believe it can be installed by someone with the proper knowledge, no guarantee, but it might be nice just to stick it into the radio hole to give the dash that much more original stock appeal. Motor and transmission are original. (1967 only 1500cc) Motor is very smooth running and easy to start. Clutch works fine. Shifts normal. Suspension is in fine condition and steering wheel tracks straight. The condition and intactness of this car indicate to me that it is possible that the odometer may never have been rolled over and it has in fact less than 20,000 miles on it. I cannot prove this, but the condition speaks for itself. Other than the minor ding mentioned earlier there are few flaw to mention. New rubber was installed around rear tail lights and it is not perfectly placed, but not glaringly off either. The vertical window rubber piece for both the driver side and passenger side doors is a bit out of place also, which is quite typical for any ghia. very easy to put back in place, but I haven't bothered to do it. The wiper blades need replacing, but I NEVER drive this car in the rain anyway. (this should also indicate how little it was driven as this is an Oregon car.) Also included is a Ghia car cover, not waterproof, just a dust cover. I have owned two Ghia's for 30 years. When I searched for this one I had looked for roughly 4 years to find the right one. This car can be a thoroughly enjoyable daily drive as is with very little input needed if any, for a long time. It is also a full restoration candidate which could result in a car of amazing quality if that is your desire. This GHIA is Special, bid with confidence. Please ask any questions which occur to you and I will answer as much as I can. I am not a mechanic but I have studied Ghias and owned them for a long time so I know a fair bit about them.
