1983 Mazda RX-7 – 144,000 milesUpdated information as of 8-27-11 Brake line repairs are needed. Starting bid price reduced to $300. Specifics: Wednesday 8-24-11 the metal brake line in the rear running across the car between the two wheels sprang a leak and was replaced. Saturday 8-27-11, the brake line from the master cylinder to the rear sprang aleak. Buyer will need to replace this line. The mechanic crimped the leaking line to prevent the loss of brake fluid. Now only the front brakes are working. I drove the car ten miles home and the front brakes do function to stop the car. But there is now a risk of brake failure when driving until the crimped line is repaired. Car runs well Rotary 1.1 L engine, 5 speed manual transmission, cruise control, AM/FM radio, exchangeable glass sunroof or metal roof with a leather case to store whichever one is not in use. Cloth cover for car is included. Three owner vehicle. Operated for first few years in Iowa. I am the third owner. It is my wife's car and she has operated it from 1992 until 2009 in Rochester, NY. Since then she has operated it in South Carolina. During Rochester winters the car was stored in a garage each year. Ontario Mazda in Canandaigua NY replaced the original engine with a reconditioned engine on 8-31-2001. The reconditioned engine was installed at odometer reading of 101,943. There was one parking lot collision at slow speed under 15 mph in Fall of 1997. Frame was bent. Body shop repaired the frame and we have had no problem since. Regular maintenance has been observed. Lube, Oil Change and Filter change every 3,000 miles Problems corrected as they occurred. Replaced the Muffler assembly along with Distributor Cap, Rotor, wiring, spark plugs and air filter on 10-15-2009 at mileage 133,680. Known problems Air conditioner does not work. Our mechanic advises that the problem is likely the A/C Evaporator Core. There are some rusted areas on the metal undercarriage. Paint is faded. Car has two small rust spots on the hood, and some minor small rust spots on the passenger door. Also some paint has chipped and fallen off of the rear bumper. There are three tears in the cloth seat cover on the passenger seat. Gas gauge on control panel operates intermittently. Hatch Struts do not hold the rear hatch in the Up position.Brake problem as described in the update above. Thank you.
