Vehicle Detail
Here is the history behind this car...This Tempest was my friend's grand father's daily driver for almost 30 years. It originally had an inline 6 and the pontiac 2 speed trans. in 2003 My friend inherited the car, and installed a SMALL BLOCK CHEVY 350 and TH350 Transmission. The motor is 30 over with KB hypereutectic pistons, COMP CAM 224 hydraulic flat tappet EDELBROCK PERFORMER intake and 650 CFM EDELBROCK carb. Ignition is a ACCEL HEI unit. Transmission is a rebuilt TH350 with a performance shift kit and 2000 stall converter. In 2004 we installed a 3.90 Posi rear end unit that was supposedly from a 67 GTO. I'm not a Pontiac guy but it fries both tires. One of the pictures shows the numbers on the rear end. The picture of the car in action was before the posi rear end. The car was infrequently driven from 2005-2007. I got the car in 2008 but noticed it wasn't running well. I also noticed an unusual amount of water coming out of the passenger side exhaust bank. Afer inspection it was a faulty head gasket. Unfortunately the car had sat with a blown head gaskets for too long a time and it had damaged 2 of the threads for the head bolts and rusted a cylinder wall. I pulled the motor and had the motor torn down, had the cylinders honed, and the head bolt holes heli-coiled and the motor and trans installed back in the car in the Summer of 2009. During this time some body stole the headers and drive shaft from my storage space. I have no clue why and it completely killed my motivation to put the car back together. The car does have full exhaust, and is set up for a set of HOOKER long tube headers for an A body. Other than the listed modifications it is COMPLETELY STOCK Suspension is all original, with drums all the way around. Wheels are 16x8 Ralleys. Car is originally white, but appears to have had a cheap re-spray at some time. This is a very solid car, with any rust areas photographed and in my pictures. This isn't a pile of parts thrown together to pass off as a project that is 95% done. This car will run and drive with very litttle work, but I don't have a garage anymore, and can't afford it. It's priced to sell. Good luck.
