Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1966 Austin Healey 3000. I purchased the car in 1974 and haven’t driven it since about 1977, except in and out of storage facilities. It has always been stored indoors. During the last extended storage period, the hydraulic clutch and the brakes ceased to function. I suspect the master cylinders. The engine is free and turns over by hand. In the past, I would file the points on the electric fuel pump and fire it up, but that has been a number of years. There is the typical Healey rust as seen in the pictures. I have both foam interior trim pieces for the tops of the doors. I’m missing one of the rear trunk scripts and the apron behind the front bumper. Otherwise, it’s a pretty complete example that is in need of restoration. I just don’t have the time. I’ll be glad to answer any questions. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. If you’ve been searching for a big Healey to restore, here you go. Thanks for looking and good luck. On Aug-26-11 at 05:42:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to requests,I loaded additional pictures of the underside of the car. Unfortunately, I am at my max number of pictures. If you would like additional photos of the underside, let me know and I will email them. I jacked the car up last night to take the pictures. There is rust on the frame, but I didn't see any spots where it was eaten through or had holes (other than what look like factory) but my view was limited and I wasn't completely underneath the vehicle. Also, there is a dent in the left rear quarter, acquired at some point during storage. At the end of the day, this is a classic 45 year old automobile that needs restoration. You're not going to throw a battery and some fuel in it and drive it home. I will be out of town from today(08-26) until Sunday(08-28) but will try and field questions on my BlackBerry. You can try my cell @ 507-421-8096. Thanks again for looking. On Aug-29-11 at 07:35:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I will be out of town for the Labor Day weekend from the evening of Thursday, the 1st, until the evening of Monday the 5th. Hopefully, this doesn't negatively impact anyone's plans. Thanks, MarkOn Aug-30-11 at 18:50:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Having had numerous inquiries today, I just came from poking and taking photos of the outriggers. There IS rust in the outriggers. I was able to poke through the right front and left rear. I assume there are two per side. If this is a huge issue, please bid accordingly. I will be glad to e-mail photos. Having owned the car for close to 40 years, I never dreamt it would generate this much excitement. I always planned to strip it down and restore it at some point, so for me any rust was just part of the deal. I have attempted to point out any faults I was aware of to honestly represent the car. Thanks again for looking and good luck.
