Vehicle Detail
Pictures appear a bit odd because they come from my travel file and were not intended for this purpose. This car is located at the Travelodge,1350 Worcester Road, Natick MA. The manager of the hotel has a key for the car. I used to be a Ford mechanic with 15 years of experience in a Ford-Mercury dealership. I kept this car in mint mechanical condition at all times. It has a total of 378,000KM on it, but most of that was highway travel. It has crisscrossed the continent many times. This time we were driving from Saskatchewan through Boston and on to Halifax NS. I'm the second owner who bought it from a friend who took very good care of it. The engine was in very good condition. The pistons, rings and bearings were replaced last year. At the time of replacement the cylinders showed less than .001" wear. I thought the car would make 500,000KM(300,000Miles). However, these 2L SOHC engines have a habit of dropping a valve seat. That's what happened in a parking garage recently in Boston MA.engine. It's quite possible that a new head would restore the engine. Everything else is still in traveling order! A brand new exchange head from rockauto.com is about $600. Tires are about 50% wear. Brake pads front are about 20% left. Rear shoes are at about 40% left. The alternator was replaced last spring and has lifetime warranty. The starter brushes have about 40% left. All front end joints are tight. The clutch was replaced before I bought the car and is still at 50% wear left on the disc. The right rear wheel bearing was also replaced last spring. The fuel pump was replaced last winter as a precaution against failure. All accessories function normally. It has cruise, a/c and 5 speed manual trans-axle. The body is in good condition with a tiny bit of rust showing under the paint above the right rear wheel. That was treated from the inside to prevent further problems. There is a deep scratch on the right rear bumper. Of course there are the regular dents caused by people opening their doors against the side of the vehicle. The windshield has some damage from sand striking it and a couple of small stone chips. There is a crack in the outer layer of the windshield just above the cowl. I didn't even notice it until I washed the car the first time. It also has a hitch, but I have the draw-bar at home. The draw bar could be replaced with a piece of flat iron with a couple of holes drilled through it and a ball installed on it. Change of ownership can be accomplished by email upon purchase of the vehicle.
