Vehicle Detail
Here is an honest original paint example of a '72 240Z. It has 189,000 miles but could pass for an 89,000 mile (or less) car. The original owner purchased it in Feb. '72 at Camino Datsun in Sunnyvale, CA. It was serviced at that same dealer over the next 29 years ($8,000) in receipts. This owner kept receipts and a journal of everything from day one, even keeping track of when he filled the gas tank (type fuel, cost, where bought etc.). If something squeaked, growled or wasn't right, to the dealer it went. In 2002 after moving to Colorado, the 1st owner sold the 240 to the 2nd owner and 7 years later in March of 2009 I bought it. All of us have kept it garaged and it stayed garaged in the Colorado winters. It still wears it's original factory color code 112 Lime (greenish/yellow) and looks & shines nicely. There is no rust under the battery, spare tire well, underneath, rear hatch etc. The only rust is just starting on the drivers side rear dog-leg, not bad-see pic. It has it's share of nicks & door dings but no damage or rust repair ever! The hood and front bumper have a couple of dings where someone backed into it-not bad but noticeable, and the hood has a spot the size of a quarter where the oil cap was left off sitting on the valve cover and the the hood was closed-again barely noticeable. All of these spots could be repaired and spotted in by a good body man, but I prefer to live with them until one day when the whole car is painted. The interior is very well preserved also. In 2001 new factory seat covers & foam buns we're installed and still look great. The carpet was replaced at the same time. I don't know the condition of the original dash but asume it had the usual 2-3 cracks because a Dashcap from Dashcap Industries was installed in 2002 also. It evidently was installed correctly & still looks great. The original headliner, door panels & rest of interior look great also. Everything works on this car including the clock, power antenna/radio, rear defogger, map & interior lights, guages etc. Mechanically this car needs nothing. It shifts smothly & quietly, good clutch, good brakes, recent valve/timing gears/chain. Motor is smooth, responsive & quiet with no usual signs of bad-wrenching. Even all smog equipment is present and working including the pump. The tires are new (400) miles and the spare tire is the original Bridgstone and was never used. Also the jack & tire tools are present (also never used). I have stacks of receipts including the original dealer sales invoice and dealer window sticker. Also original owner's manual, warranty booklet & Owner's card. Please email with any questions-Thanks for looking!
