Vehicle Detail

I have finally decided to let my 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L go. I purchased this car in 2000 as an insurance salvage. It was not in an accident but stolen and vandalized in the way of puncturing the seats and a small area of the dash with a phillips head scredriver. The computer and the stereo were stolen also. The sun roof was pryed out to gain access and has been replaced with a donor. I have not completed the re-fit of the sunroof gearing and cables but do have brand new ones in the box that will go with the car. The seats were replaced with black leather Alfa 164 seats from a donor car so the car is currently a two tone tan and black instead of the ugly orange leather that they originally installed from the factory. The dash received a custom Mahogany panel to cover the holes. It looks beautiful! The computer and stereo were replaced with Alfa equipment. In 2002 , soon after the timing belt was replaced, the timing belt idler pully bolt sheared and resulted in a bent exhaust valve on the #5 cylinder. I suspect the bolt was loose or overtightened by the shop that did the work. They would not take responsibility for it. The engine and trans are currently out of the car. Prior to this the vehicle was painted professionally in 2002 at a cost of $3300.00. After it was painted all badges and the grille were replaced with new. In addition the tires were replaced with Michelin Pilots and only have around 150 miles on them. A new clutch was installed as was the starter. The radiator, brake rotors and pads, and muffler were replaced. The transmission was rebuilt and the input shaft bearing replaced. The clutch master cylinder was replaced. The HVAC system was fully serviced and the stepper motors were retro fit with the brass gears from Alfa Pro in Austrailla. The car has been stored in my shop since 2002 under a cover. The exterior is beautiful and the interior is almost as nice (carpets need cleaning). The seats are in tact and show little signs of use. The shift has a custom mahogany knob from International Auto in VA. Many more parts were replaced on this car that I can barely remember. I have lost interest in tinkering with cars and need this vehicle to go. The original engine is rebuildable as there was only damage to the valve stem itself. I have another engine from a 1993 which I purchased from a salvor which came out of an 164 with 54,000 miles on the clock when removed. The new engine is available for sale seperately for $950. It is not included with the purchase of the car. You will need a trailer or flatbed to take this vehicle with you. It is not driveable. I have several new and used parts that will go with the sale of this car. I also have the complete Alfa Romeo 164 factory shop manual w/parts and tutorials on cd for this car. This car was always taken care of and never trashed. When it was running it drove better than most of the luxury cars out there today. There is absolutely no rust on this car except surface corrosioin on the frame and underside. If you are familiar with the 164 you know how much fun they can be to drive. I guarantee that everybody will turn their head when you pass by because there are so few that survived. When this car is put back together it would almost be in concourse condition. The shop that did the paint job was owned by a guy who thought he was going to buy the car from me so he spent way too much time on it for what I spent. Happy bidding. contact me if you have any questions. If you don't intend on following through with the purchase, please do not bid. Non paying bidders will be reported to ebay. This car would make a fine candidate for completion or parts. If you were to buy all the parts on this car that are all very usable, you would pay thousands of dollars. Thanks for looking.
