Vehicle Detail
I am putting up for auction my 1969 R60 VIN 1817891. I purchased this bike in 2001 from a motorcycle enthusiast from Connecticut, who had taken very good care of it only driving it in the summers and always putting a stabilizer in the fuel in the winter to prevent the gas form absorbing moisture thus creating damage. His care showed, but even so when the motorcycle arrived to Houston Texas, I sent it to British USA Gulf Coast of South Houston to perform a mayor service that included: Spark plug replacement, BMW engine oil, fork seal replacement, fork springs H.D., spacer, bimper, rubber rings, stop light switch, BMW fuel hose, ignition key plastic, installed new fork springs, spacers, bumpers and completely rebuilt forks, installed fork gaiters and new seals, cleaned and greased steering head bearings, painted bare steel parts, replaced incorrect (fork spacers, bumpers, cotter pins, nuts), lubed throttle cable and re greased throttle gears, rebuilt carburetors, adjusted front brakes, adjusted clutch, changed pan gasket and flattened oil pan rails and pan bottom, cleaned out pump pick-up, installed new battery and new neg. battery cable end, adjusted point gap, replaced fuel cross-over line, replaced brake, tail and head light, checked all wire connections, fixed tail light connections, fixed head light switch. Total cost $ 1,130.24 (have receipt). Replaced original exhaust pipes. Total cost $750.00 Replaced new handle bar cost $125.00 Replaced new mirrors: cost $150.00 Replaced engine caps: cost $100.00 Painted the motorcycle in black with white stripes: cost $1,500.00 Odometer does not work, so exact mileage is unknown to me, it reads 37,809 since I got the bike, I probably put less than 3k miles on it. I obtained a Texas Certificate of Title number: 52185683 Tires are in good shape but should be changed soon, I have not priced them new. It has the big touring gas tank. I purchased this bike to ride and enjoy it and thus did exactly that; every weekend I took it for a ride, it never let me down, and it is a real head turner. This motorcycle is not a trailer queen; it always started at the second kick. The bike has now been stored in an air-conditioned facility waiting for a new happy owner. The lucky person that gets it will surely have a great time too; these motorcycles are really easy to keep and enjoy on a regular basis when you find one in such good shape. I do not have the tool kit or the air pump. The sliders where cleaned by the previous owner and I have not had them cleaned during my ownership, I recommend this to be done as a precautionary service within the next 10k miles. The reason for auctioning it, is that now I have a two year old daughter and my motoring and parenting can only mix on four wheels. Lately I have been playing around a couple of projects of mine that I had ignored, a 1971 Porsche 911T and a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS that I also own. Sadly the R-60 would just accumulate dust in the corner of the garage, my time as a solo act it's simply behind me. If you are around the Houston area we can arrange a meeting for you or your mechanic to thoroughly inspect the bike before you make a bid. I strongly recommend and encourage this before the end of the auction. Please remember that l will not engage in any kind of dealings for it in such meeting as long as the bike is listed here for auction. All winning bids are final and this bike is auctioned AS IS, There will be no post-auction inspections, only deposit of the required advance, and or, exchange of total balance per pick-up of the bike. Read all the description carefully and ask all the necessary questions before bidding. If you have "0", negative or private feedback, please contact me before bidding to discuss this, or I will be forced to cancel your bid. I will auction to overseas members, but again please contact me before bidding so I can accept your bid. This is an auction so there is no "Buy Now" price (please don't ask for it). As long as this bike is up for auction here, it will not be posted in any other site, nor will it be dealt in any other way. If you like the bike, you MUST make your bid to win the auction. The bike will go to the highest bidder that goes above the reserve (also hidden so please don't ask). My reserve is conservative and just, (it is the price I paid for the bike in 2001 and not far from the auction starting price). It is set because I will not let go of this bike below that price. An auction means that I will not engage in any type of haggling. I will respond promptly to any questions or requests for information regarding the condition of the bike, but I will elegantly ignore offers to "Buy Now" or requests to divulge the reserve price (I will be fair and square to all). I will only respond thru publishable ebay messages (I will not engage in any other form of communication so to ensure that everything will be on ebay record and it is fair to all persons interested), so please do not ask me to mail you privately or call you. If you include your phone number or e-mail with a reasonable question, my answer to such question will be published in the listing and your private data might go public, so for your protection, please do not include them. I will only respond privately to set up a meeting for inspecting the bike, but this communication will always be thru Ebay.I am Paypal certified, and once the auction ends with a winning bidder, I require from him a $2000.00 non-refundable advance deposit thru Paypal within 48hrs, or the bike will be relisted and the unresponsive bidder will be reported. Final payment of the balance must be done cash in hand at pick-up of the bike, or otherwise paid thru other means before bike pick-up, within 15 days from the end-time of this auction or the deposit will be forfeited, the bike re-listed and the unresponsive bidder will be reported. Please feel free to bid if you acknowledge and accept these contractual terms and requirements. Arranging pick up and shipping will be at winning bidder's responsibility and costs, which are not included in the final price of auction; but I will help on coordinating pick up from your preferred professional shipping service. If you are serious about having a great time on this bike, please place your bid and take it home! Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck bidding.
