Vehicle Detail

1973 VW Thing . I purchased from the 2nd owner in 1995 . Ive done almost everything to it personally.Been garaged since I bought it. The car had 92k when I bought it and I replaced the engine at 98k. The engine is a 1776 cc built by CB Performance. Runs like a top. Little drips like all vws do. All door windows bought from the Thing Shop .The front 2 have the sliding glass and the rear 2 are solid. The convertible top is new and the cover. Disc brakes and air ride suspension I added in front. The 2 front seats are Scat brand. Scat brand shifter. Wonderfull stereo. Front foot kick panels were also installed and have 6 inch mid range speakers. Also speakers were added in the recess panels behind each rear door jamb. Also in pic, the box with the 2 bass speakers. The rims were purchased from Bugformance in Sacramento and are BRM Speedwell .The hard top is an original and was sprayed with chip gard and paint to match. Also have duplicates of parts, extra rubber and trincate stuff that will go with the car.The paint was sprayed in 1997 and Id say a 8 on the scale. The interior is fairly recent and is probaably 90% new . Engine has about 8k and no problems. Ive had the car a long time and want it to go to a home that will take good care of it as I have. I know Ive left out something, so if any one would like to see different pics or additional info, please ask. I urge you to come out and inspect the car personally. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Mike ( 209 ) 345-2330. Im in the central valley california. On Aug-21-11 at 12:08:43 PDT, seller added the following information:EXTRA INFO When I bought the car it had zero rust. The car had no accidents or event sizable dents. The gentleman I bought it from had only owned the car 2 to 3 years and planned on fixing it up but changed his mind. The guy he bought it from had towed it behind his motorhome mainly. I did repair a quarter size hole under the battery in the pan. The horn isnt hooked up.I dont have the original gas heater. For a cleaner look, I took the bumper gards off and welded the holes. All the clamps for the 2 tops are the heavy duty stainless steel (the pricy ones) from the trim shop. The fuel tank is newer(06,07).The steering wheel is from Italy and is wood. Wheel for the accelerator pedal. I also installed an accessory plug for charging my phone that is slightly hidden under the left side dash on the top of the kicker panel above the speaker.S&S original style headers that still maintain original look and bumper exit.I have the original folding top that will go with the car. Also, one key still operates ignition and doors.I have 2 totes of extra parts and rubber. The car is a blast to drive and reminds me of an old race car. Very quick to rev and has a great exhaust note from 2500 to 6000 rpm.
