NO RESERVE!!!! Sells to highest bidder. Do not bid if you don't have intentions of paying!!!! Up for auction is a #'s matching 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400, 4 speed coupe with PHS documentation. There was 7,526 Firebird 400, 4 speed cars produced in 1967, so this would be considered a relative rare car. I acquired this car over 3 years ago with the intention of restoring it one day but my plans have changed, so it is time to pass it along. What makes this car special is that it is a 400, 4 speed car with all its original components as verified through PHS, casting #'s and date codes in extremelly good condition. I will provide details of all components. The car was built the 4th week of April, so all major component build dates are before this date. I purchased the car half assesembled from the previous owner after he had performed an amateur restoration on the car. For whatever reason, he changed the original colors of the car (Silver glaze exterior which is somewhat rare and dark blue interior) to both a red exterior and interior. To my understanding, I am the 3rd owner of the car since new. The second owner, which I bought the car from, had the car from 1987-2007, 20 years. Below is the Body Tag in the firewall decoded: 1967 Pontiac Firebird Coupe The paint was Silverglaze with Silverglaze upper body color. The trim color and material were Dark Blue Vinyl This car has the Fisher Body Unit Number 13,949 built in the 4th week of April at the Lordstown, Ohio plant. Five Group Accessory Codes ( 2l 3f ): 1st Group (digit not shown) No Accessories in this Group (or No Codes Entered) 2nd Group L .... 4-spd Manual Transmission Floor Shift 3rd Group F .... 400 Option (Firebird) BODY BY FISHER 04 D ST 67- 22437 LOR 13949 BODY TR 250 z PP PAINT 2l 3f GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION CERTIFIES TO THE DEALER THAT THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO ALL FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS APPLICABLE AT TIME OF MANUFACTURE. Body: The car has all original body panels, with no indications of accidents. The body is straight. There are three areas that have rust in the car: 1) Front end of hood 2) some bubbling in driver quarterpanel bottom behind wheel 3) Trunk. Car has some dents on roof and decklid. See pictures. Even though not in the pictures, I have an original 400 Pontiac Firebird front chrome bumper in great condition. Underside: The underside of the car is rust free and one of the cleanest I have seen. Glass: All glass is complete. Interior: The previous owner installed brand new seat covers, carpet, headliner (not installed), dash, door panels. All this will come with the car. Other Parts: As you can see from the picture of the pile of parts, the car seems to be all complete. Major parts in the pictures are chrome air cleaner, original AM radio, original owner's manual (how cool is that), original gauge cluster showing 78xxx original miles according to previous owner, and hood tach that was no original to car. Wheels: Authentic Pontiac 15x7 JJ coded Pontiac Ralley II wheels. Even though not original to the car, the 15" wheels look right. Engine: The car comes with the original block it left the factory with which is a "WZ" code 400 block, correct for 400 Pontiac Firebird with a manual transmission. In 1967, Pontiac did not stamp the VIN on the blocks. Instead it stamped an "Engine Unit No." above the block code. The "Engine Unit No." on this block is 543770 (see picture), which is documented in the PHS documentation. In addition, a picture of the block casting date of D177 is included. This means the block was manufactured on D=April, 17, 7=1967. How many 400, 4 speed cars do you see today with their original block? Not many, since most manual cars owners blew up their original blocks. The previous owner told me that he had rebuilt the engine. The engine turns freely with no problems. Heads: Original pair of 670 high compression heads that came with the car. The date codes on the heads are D247 (April 24 1967) and D127 (April 12 1967). I spent $ 840 dollars in machine costs in 2007 installing hardened seats for today's unleaded fuel, new springs, retainers, seals, and a 3 angle valve job. A picture of the heads is attached as well as the invoice for the machine work. The engine currently has Pontiac 6X lower compression heads for today's lower octane gas. Carburetor: I spent two years looking for a correct, date coded carburetor for this Pontiac Firebird. The correct carburetor is a Quadrajet number 7027273, broadcast code XD which is correct for a 1967 non-California Firebird with a manual transmission. After an extensive search, I was able to locate a NOS 7027273, XD code carburetor with a date code of D7 or April 1967. A picture of the carburetor is attached as well as an invoice at a cost of $ $ 1,495 from Custom Rebuilt Carburetors LLC out of New Jersey. Original 1967 Pontiac Firebird Quadrajet carburetors are among the hardest to find today because there were no common numbered big cars carburetors from which to swap parts, as the big cars used the Carter AFB in 1967 (except for the 428 applications). Transmission: Original 4 speed wide ratio Muncie transmission with original Muncie Shifter. The Muncie transmission, as expected, has the aluminum case. The transmission has a Main Case Casting # of 3885010, which is correct for 1965-1967 Pontiac with a 4 speed. The Tailhousing casting # is 3857584GM. The transmission date code is P7DO3, which decodes to P=Muncie, 7=1967, D=April, 03=3rd day of the month. There is a metal tag on the driver side with # 789170, as well as casting # 9785851 on the bell housing. No question that this is the transmission the car left the factory with. Axle: The car retains it original "UV" coded (I have a picture with the UV stamped on the axle) Safe-T-Track Axle (Locking) with 3.36 gears. The car also has the rare, and exclusive to 400, 4 speed cars dual traction bars from the factory. Intake: Original intake, casting # 9786286 with a date code of D147, or April 14, 1967. Distributor: Original distributor with code # 1111250 and date code 7D20, or April 20, 1967. Exhaust Manifolds: I have one exhaust manifold that is original to the car. I am not sure which side so I will check. Radiator: Original Harrison radiator. Not original to car: Previous owner installed a GM power steering and GM brake booster. If you want to maintain originality of car, you can easily remove them. Other Parts: Included with the car will be a reproduction rear quarter panel for the driver's side, new reproduction trunk lid, new starter, new alternator, and new radiator hoses. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping. A payment of $ 1,000 needs to be made within 48 hours of auction ending via paypal. Full payment is expected withing 7 days. A wire transfer is preffered for payment, and car will not be released until funds clear. I have a clear title for the car under my name. Good luck bidding!!!
