Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1948 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet which has been in storage since 1976. The all original body is without rust, except minor on the driver’s floorboard. One of 452 Cabriolets built for 1948, final assembly is required. The car was shipped to and sold from a New Orleans dealer and has always been in the south or south-west. Original build sheet from the Ford archives is included. All major components are included, including door glass, rebuilt transmission, new major body/cowl wiring harness, new correct Firestone tires, all new, original style leather cushion and back covers, ready for assembly to the springs along with other interior trim items. Original door panels are included for patterns and to reuse the panel upper structure. New door panel material and correct trunk lining materials are included. All bumper components, interior ferrous chrome items, including top frame items have been replated to show quality. Top is new, only requiring final fitting and rear window. Four major grills have been replated to show quality. Other exterior pot metal items need replating. The window/top hydraulic system lines need repair. The brake system needs refurbishing. The engine included is a mid 50’s Cadillac conversion, which was a GM service engine, with 8000 miles and was running when stored. It probably needs some disassembly and cleaning due to extensive storage. The front fenders have not been permanently reinstalled, pending engine reinstallation, and require a final coat of Lacquer. Original V12 mounting to frame has not been changed, as well as the Cadillac mounting, permitting the easy re-installation of either engine. Email almars1127@aol.com with any questions before bidding
