Vehicle Detail

1949 Buick Super 2-Door Fastback Coupe 1-Year Only Body Style AKA Sedanette! Runs and Drives Very Nice! Restored to nice Driver Quality around 20 years ago. The Chrome on this Car make it worth a Second look alone! Up for sale is this 1949 Buick Super 2-Door Coupe Sedanette model 56-S. This is a car that has lived in the Western United States (Wyoming and New Mexico) all its life. The car is almost rust free. I have seen 2 small spots or rust straight down from the cowl at that body mount location on both the left and right sides. There is no rust in front of nor behind this location under the car so I am going to assume this was a problem area that did not drain water well and would have rusted had the car only seen a car wash when it was new. The car has one small area that has damage. It was driven a little too close to a garage door and the right rear fender, fender skirt and fender spear were flattened out a bit. You have to look pretty close to see it and it all can be fixed pretty easily. (See the last picture). The car has not been off the frame ever and you can see just how non-rusty the car is by looking at the body mounting bolts. The mileage is believed to be original as well. There is also a wonderful old tag for new tires in the trunk that is dated July 27, 1953! The car is still running a 6 volt electrical system and almost everything work very well. It has a new battery, the generator works well and the starter cranks the car just fine. The car has vacuum wipers with the optional windshield washer system too. All of the parts are installed on the car but they are not working at this time... I do know New Port Engineering sells electric wiper conversions for these old cars. This is not a put together car... It's one that's not been taken all apart nor was it built from many cars. About the car Painted Bahama Blue Metalli-Chrome 20+ Years Ago Very, very, very Nice Tan/Natural Cloth Interior, No rips, No Tears & Sits very Comfortably. Smells just like an old car (if you know what I mean)! The grill is 1949 only and it's PERFECT! All Chrome is just about show quality! 99% of all the original Chrome and Stainless is on this car and in good or better condition! First Year for Port Holes Just turned over 100,000 Miles 3 speed Manual Transmission (3-on-the-Tree) The Original Radio Works Perfectly This car Runs & Drives Excellent (Just like they did in 1949) Trim Tag Reads as Follows: 1949 Mod 56-S Style No. 49-4507 Body No. BK4254 Trim No. 51 Paint No. 02 (Bahama Blue Metalli-Chrome) This car is the REAL DEAL!!! The engine appears to have been rebuilt with a great deal of the engine looking as original. Transmission shifts smooth and the clutch works well. The tires are in good condition and the brake work great, even the parking brake. With the odometer showing around 00,100 miles and believed to be original, with it just starting its second hundred thousand miles. The radiator looks to have been serviced/repaired/replaced not too long ago. The original air cleaner assembly has been restored and it is complete. Carburetor is complete and works well without leaks. The car cruises very comfortably at 55 & 60mph. Knee action shocks have been serviced, the chassis greased and the oil changed 50 miles ago. This car would make a several hundred mile drive easily. All gauges work with the exception of the gas gauge The gas gauge has been tested and the gauge works but does not show the fuel level, so it is assume the sending unit is bad in the fuel tank. Tires have a good balance on them and the car was taken on (2) 200 miles cruise this year. I restore cars for a living so I can say with confidence this is one fine old car. You don't find them as nice as this very often and all the hard to find parts are not only here they are in very nice condition! Perfect to make a Resto-Mod!! This car is priced to sell so your low-ball and/or insulting offers will automatically be rejected. I will consider 1956-1972 Corvettes in trade. If you have serious questions you can call me (Rick) at Five O Five-61O-Five Two Nine One. This is a private party sale. Shipping and inspection is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
