Vehicle Detail
I'm not sure what to say about a perfect, 7,500 MILE Viper that hasn't been said over and over again by the press--how many superlatives are necessary to describe a car like this? It's got 500HP and 525 lbs/ft of torque, which is roughly the power needed to knock the Empire State Building into New Jersey. It's the first year for the return of the coupe body style, which in my opinion is the best looking Viper ever. Even cooler, this is a late year car, allowing it to be its sinister black instead of the initial production of blue. This car is PERFECT in every way, inside and out, just as a 7.500 mile car should be. The black paint with silver stripes is stunning and there was only 94 Vipers ever produced in 2006 with this color combination so it is VERY rare. Nothing outside of an few oil changes distinguishes this car's present condition from the day it was born in Detroit. The interior is original and perfect, the chassis is untouched, the tires are original, and everything right down to the battery is original in the engine compartment. This car starts the first time, every time, and everything operates as it should. Staring at the window sticker (yes, I have that, and all other original paperwork!)shows the 8.3 liter V10, six speed manual transmission, 3.07:1 rear axle ratio, heavy duty, four-wheel independent suspension, 18x10" front and 19x13" rear rims with 275/35/ZR18 and 345/30/ZR19 tires, heavy duty oil cooler, 14 inch rotors with 4 piston Brembo calipers at all four corners, massive 12 inch clutch, power rack and pinion steering, rear window defroster, power adjustable pedals, air conditioning, security alarm, 310 watt stereo with an AM/FM, in-dash 6 disc changer, black Preferred Suede seats with black leather trim, shift knob and steering wheel, tinted glass, power mirrors, dual side exit exhaust, power trunk release, variable speed wipers, anti-spin rear differential, power locks, keyless entry, full gauges, full length center console, tilt wheel, and more. The car came with both options: Silver racing stripes and polished aluminum wheels. Those options plus the gas guzzler tax pushed the sticker price to $90,695. It's loaded! Now, everything's listed, but there's no emotion, no attitude. And that's a problem. Viper is all about attitude and emotion. There are cars that ride better, handle better, and the very few are even faster, but none do so with the Viper's swagger. This isn't a car for weenie engineer types, nor is it the car you valet park at the opera. This is a car you take out on your favorite road or track and crush all that you see. No, you won't defeat others, or dismiss them. You'll crush them. That's what Vipers do best. There's no whiz-bang technology here, just earth-shattering horsepower and torque, in a chassis that demands being taken seriously. No electronic aids will save you. No speed limiting, rotation limiting nannies are there to rein you in. You're on your own, and you'll smile every time you think about that. This is a true-blue American car, right down to its faults. One cam operates the valves, through pushrods, just like the muscle car wars of the 60's. The interior is purposeful like Dickies workwear rather than flashy like an Armani suit. Viper is the poster child for "there's no replacement for displacement." Words like "refined," "silent," "sophisticated" and "smooth" aren't in the owner's manual, and they're not absent by mistake. Viper is raw power, with performance the primary goal. Only the strong survive a Viper attack.
