12.00 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Selling my project car that needs someone willing to put in the work to have an awesome rare piece of American automobile history when it is done. Restore it or build a hot rod it has a lot of potential. 1954 Buick Roadmaster, Runs and Drives plus a LOT of original extras. Power steering, power brakes, electric seats and windows; this was a luxury car in its time. The car runs and starts right up! You could drive it however it is a project car. The title is clear however there is a minor back registration issue that can easily be remedied if you intend to keep it in California. The sale is as is where is. You will have to make arrangements to have it transported. The Dynaflow transmission leaks badly. That is this vehicles biggest flaw. If you are looking for a rat rod you are nearly there fix these leaks and run with it until you have some more cash, however If you are thinking of a bigger project read on there is a lot of potential here for you. This was my hobby car until 3 years ago but now I find that I must let her go. There are a lot of extra parts so read down to the end to see that there is another partial engine, trans and a lot of body panels that go with it. It is package deal so you get the car along with all of those extra parts. The engine is the original 322 nailhead motor that developed 188 hp. The fuel system is not original. It has an electric fuel pump and 4 bbl 650 cfm Holley carburetor. I made an adapter plate to match them up, it works perfectly. Other than that the engine and engine compartment is all original with no additional holes or missing panels. The engine runs cool and the radiator is clean and leak free. The battery is undersized but has worked for me in the past. The brake master cylinder has been rebuilt and it is a canister design that is mounted under the floorboard on the driver side. I removed the underseat heater and disconnected the heater in the driver compartment however I believe that it could work, the fan does work. The front windshield has a vertical crack on the passenger side. The stainless steel trim is all there and looks pretty nice. The rear glass is good but has been cut out so only a gasket sample remains. The complete set of chrome trim for the rear glass is there. The door glass and quarter windows are power operated and all of the motors work, 4 in all. The car is a 2 door hardtop and with the windows down there are no pillars it is all open. 1954 introduced the fin design and was the last to incorporate the body midband. It was removed from pretty much all production cars by 1955. This car shares some parts and similarity to the 1954 Cadillac including glass and some trim. The roof has flippers that come down as the doors are closed to protect from rain and noise. The Roadmaster has a 10 inch longer wheelbase than the Century and Special models although the body style is virtually the same. There are 4 side ports on the Roadmaster front fenders and only 3 on the Century and Special models. This was the luxury end of the Buick line in the day and would have been a real status symbol to own one The interior is thrashed. No carpets, headliner or seatcovers. There is new foam and the start of some upholstery work that will at least serve as patterns. All of the headliners bows are there as are the chrome trim caps that cover some of the pleats. The original ribbon speedometer works perfectly. The steering wheel assembly is original and complete. I do not have the radio The original ignition switch system has been replaced with a universal switch. I do not have any of the original ignition switch parts. The original mirrors are missing. I have 2 headlight bezels, one of them is damaged. I replaced the rear lenses (all 4 of them). The wiring is 98% original and all of the lights and turn signals work on the original switch. I have the interior dome lights but no lenses. The dashboard lights work. The front bumper is complete with original chrome, non original hardware. The rear bumper has been stripped and painted flat black. About the trim package: As you can see from the photos the trim has been removed from the car with the exception of the windshield trim and molding and the grill and surround. The grill is near perfect and the surround has some damage on one side. Most all of the original badges and emblems from the car are there and you will get all of the trim that I have. You will also get some additional interior trim including window surrounds and a bench seat frame. Rust on the body ~ overall the car is sound it has 2 problem areas they are the front floorboards which have been repaired with a simple sheet metal patch but it is watertight. Below the quarter windows in front of the rear wheel wells is pretty badly rusted out. I repaired one side with fiberglass and the passenger side still has a significant hole. I have looked at a lot of Buicks of this vintage and virtually everyone of then that was not continually garaged had the same troublesome area. Buick did not place adequate weep holes for the rain and condensation coming past the rear quarter windows so this became an area prone to rusting. Sure there are other less damaging rusted/rusting areas but overall this is still a real solid car that has never had any significant body issues. The doors are solid and close effortlessly. The trunk floor is nearly perfect. The trunk operates easily and opens with the original key. EXTRA PARTS Also includes a spare Dynaflow transmission that was supposed to a good non leaking unit! And a more or less complete short block 322 nailhead motor. Dismantled. Pistons, crank, Cam, valve train. Heads were checked for cracks, 1 is ok the other needs repair. No intake, carb., distributor, or valve covers As well as a pair of doors that are pretty nice. All of the guts are out and they have been sandblasted. Some fiberglass work has been done on them. A spare hood A spare trunk Spare front and rear bumpers Spare bumper brackets 2 brake drums / 2 backing plates Extra interior stuff including a front bench seat frame and seat backs I have tried to accurately describe this vehicle along with its defects. If you have any additional questions please ask and I will reply as soon as possible. This sale is for the vehicle and parts as described. It is your responsibility to make arrangements for the transportation and pick up of the vehicle as well as the parts.
