Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 convertible in very good condition. The exterior is a classic blue/white and interior dark blue. The convertible top is a dark blue canvas. It is in original condition with only 39,000 miles. I am the fourth owner of this car, which was originally purchased from a private seller in Ohio. It has been stored in a heated garage in Chicago for the past year and driven only on weekends during non-winter months. I have lovingly taken care of this car for as long as I have owned it. I am not an expert in cars but will try to describe it as best as I can. It is an eye-catching car that beautifully drives down the road. It runs very well and has no mechanical problems. The ignition, transmission, electrical system, fuel line, heating/cooling system, brakes, steering and overall mechanics of the car are sound and work very well. It has a dual exhaust. The engine sounds clean and runs very smoothly. There are no problems with alignment, and the manual gears shift well. Both power brakes and power steering also work very well. Additionally, the car has fully functioning overdrive. The colors of the car are original; however, it has been repainted once approximately 10 years ago. Last year the back end was dented, and both the rear bumper and trunk were replaced and look excellent. The rear of the car was also repainted last year and identically matches the color of rest of the car. The rest of the body of the car is original. The interior leather seats, carpet, dash, convertible top and tonneau cover are also original. The condition of the exterior of the car is very good, but it is not show quality. The car's paint job has a few areas of minor cracking and chipping. Also, there is some rust on the underside of the side panels and the doors. The front panel has a minor small 1 cm dent where possibly a pebble hit the car while it was being driven. There are some areas of rust on the underside of the car, but overall the condition is sound and very good. Last year the wheels were replaced with Dunlop 60-spoke chrome wire wheels that are in excellent condition. The previous wheels were painted metal and come with the car. The condition of the canvas convertible top is fair/poor. It has some areas of wear and small holes that have been repaired. On the underside the canvas has some rust stains where it meets the metal frame, which also has some areas of rust. The condition of the interior of the trunk is fair, except the original mat has some rips and areas of wear. The leather seats are intact, and there are no holes or cuts and no problems with the carpet, except for some fading. A small section of the leather on the top of the driver's side door is cracking where the interior door handle is. Also, there are some age cracks of the wood paneling on the face of the glove compartment door. The original BMC AM radio works well but is disconnected. Recently an Alpine stereo was installed in the glove compartment. This is removable. The quality of the sound is excellent. Also, the car has front speakers installed under the dash and rear speakers on the floor in the rear of the car, and both sets of speakers are removable. None of the original integrity of the car was compromised when the stereo was installed. As far as recent maintenance, a new fuel line and clutch fluid line were installed. The new radiator was also installed, and so was a new fuel pump. I have copies of all recent maintenance and repair statements. Also, the car came with statements of repairs over the past few decades. The car comes with the original drivers manual and other repair manuals as well. I have tried to provide all details about the car as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at (312) 218-9316 or email me at tallen1970@hotmail.com. If you would like more photos of the car, I can provide these as well. If desired, it is also possible to see the car for yourself or to have it independently inspected in person. Shipping of the car can be arranged through private shipping companies, and it is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange this, though I am willing to help if necessary. Full payment of the car is due within one week after the final sale. A down payment of $2,000 is due within 48 hours of the sale date. Thanks for looking at this beautiful automobile. It is an excellent car that would make anyone a proud owner.
