Vehicle Detail
74 Plymouth Satellite - Roadrunner Clone. NO RESERVE! (*Be sure to read entire listing for clarification regarding this auction!) This is a 1974 Plymouth Satellite that had been cloned to a Roadrunner. As you can see from the pictoral history I bought this car here on e-bay about 7 yrs ago for my son who had just turned 16 at the time. Unfortunately the seller had terribly mis-represented the car and upon receiving it we discovered it's true condition. The engine had a rod-knock and the paint was tired and fading and we discovered rust in the lower front and rear quarter panels and some around the lower rear window/trunk divider/panel. However, my son was determined and asked to tear the car down and have repairs made as well as the drivetrain changed. Since this was to be his car I made him take the car apart and then I took it to a paint/bodyman that I had previously met through a friend. Which turned out to be another story in itself. The car came to us sub-lime green and my son decided he wanted it to be sassy-grass green. However the body man I took the car to was less than forth-right about his ability and the work he had done. Then after chasing him down over a lengthy 6 month period. I finally got the car back and was less than amused with the results. While on the surface it looked great. You could also tell that there was too much use of body man instead of metal as had been promised to repair the rust. So as this project continued to move forward my son and I began to loose interest and eventually he quit the project all together. Now while I am a known hardcore MOPAR fan and collector myself. I honestly have never found the 73-74 B-body cars to be very desirable. So this car has sat for the last 5 yrs unfinished and untouched and I have NO desire to finish it myself. And as I suspected would happen some of the body work is now also beginning to come apart in the lower quarter panels and around the rear edges and lower rear window divider panel. Other than those places however, the car has VERY clean and solid floors, trunk panels and even the trunk extensions and wheel wells are super solid. The doors, rockers, hood and under hood as well as all the chassis/frame are in superb shape! In my estimate someone simply need to replace both extreme lower quarter panels (which they are finally now reproducing) and properly repair the rear divider panel around the rear back glass and the rest of the body would be rock solid to repaint. I have all the exterior and interior trim, both bumpers, signal/brake light assemblies and complete grille assembly in great condition. All glass is with car and in good shape with exception to the rear glass, which I accidently broke with a rock thrown from my tractor while mowing last year. Also with the car are all door panels and the rear seat. But I do not have the original front bench seat as it was planned to use bucket seats in its place. I have the original 318 tore down and 904 trans that came with the car but they both need rebuild or replacement. The good news is that the hood is a "true" and correct Roadrunner hood and I have all the correct/original inserts for it. The hood alone is has significant value as they are very hard to find. Sadly, I probably have over $6,000 invested in this project between the initial car's purchase and the paint/body work with ZERO to show for it. At this point all I want is the car gone. Therefore this is a "NO RESERVE" auction. So yes, I'm basically almost giving this car away! I'm sure however that for the right person who likes these cars it will make a great project/builder. *More Pictures Click Here!* NOTE: I have been buying/selling on e-bay for quite a few years and as my feedback will attest I have always done my best to be honest and forthright regarding my dealings here. This car is NOT running and will need assembly at very least. The picture that is portraying the auction listing was from over 6 years ago when I first purchased the car as explained within the timeline/history of this listing. The car currently is a rolling shell left untouched after I recieved it back from the painter. If there are any questions please by all means contact me and I'll be happy to explain or answer.
