Vehicle Detail

1961 Giulietta Spider 101 Normale Built Oct. 20, 1961, originally red with black interior, according to Alfa Romeo factory records. Titled as a 1962 model. The car is currently in the Denver Colorado area. This is a great solid Giulietta Spider and a perfect candidate for a proper and relatively easy restoration. According to the records I have, this car last ran in 1977 and has been in Colorado (dry climate) for nearly all its life. It has very little rust and appears to have never been in any serious accidents. It’s quite rare to find one of these cars that has not been hit in the front at some time in the past. One rocker panel will need attention (see pictures), as well as the frame inside the right front jack point (the same area as the rocker rust). The floors have some surface rust but are sound, and the trunk and battery area are in very good condition. The rest of the rockers are very good. I did run a magnet across the rockers and found no signs of Bondo or major repair. The car is missing four trim pieces: both side lower chrome trim spears, interior rear view mirror and one grill bar. Otherwise, as far as I know, it has all of the trim including side mirrors not shown in the pictures. The trim is currently installed loosely to show what is missing. It does include an original set of keys. All glass is in good condition. Included with the car is the original jack and an extra matching Fergat wheel. The car is being sold without engine, carburetor, air filter, or intake. It will come with the original 4 speed transmission, radiator, starter, alternator and full exhaust system. Engines for these cars are easily available and not expensive, and are often listed here on Ebay. Since this is a 101 type car, the engines are not "number matching", i.e. there is no ID plate that lists a specific engine number for a specific car. So, any engine from a 1961 101 Giulietta would be correct and appropriate. Also, the buyer could choose to put a 1600cc or 1750cc Alfa engine in this car with essentially no changes needed, if performance is your emphasis. If you’re serious, take the time to travel to Colorado and look at the car in person. This car hasn’t been driven in 34 years, and shows its true condition well enough in the photos, and even better upon personal inspection. It’s always better to buy a car where you can see exactly what you’re in for than to have significant hidden rust, frame or body damage obscured by a more recent respray. Overall, this is one of the cleanest and straightest Giulietta Spiders out there. Thanks for looking.BTW- I am relisting this car because of a nonpaying bidder. (in fact they never even contacted me). So please only bid if you really want a great classic Alfa. The only reason I am selling this car is the fact that I already have 3 other Giuliettas and a Giulia Ti, and do not have the time or space to restore this car.
