Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser which has been a project for the past few years that I absolutely loved. Life changes has put me in a position that has me putting my FJ on the market. There is so much to list. This is not a hardcore cruiser. I am not a rock crawler. I do not race this. It was built with dependability in mind with a fun factor thrown on top. My family and I have taken this to Drummond Island in the upper peninisula of Michigan, it is very capable and handled everything with ease. We have been to Silver Lake Sand Dunes multiple times. This is where the 383 small block chevy and the 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws really gave it an advantage. It will climb anything in the dunes and can climb test hill in two wheel drive. But mostly this vehicle has been used to go get ice cream with the kids and take over to the beach. The top has a sunroof installed from the previous owner, it does not open but does not leak. Everywhere we go people stop and give us the thumbs up or ask us about the vehicle. It is Not a Jeep.........:-). I have over $15,000 in receipts and have a bunch of extras that makes this cruiser still hold the title of, "work in progress". My plans were to add a York compressor to give memore self sufficiency. It will go with the cruiser along with many other extras. My enhancements to the vehicle are not yet complete as I have focused on the mechanicals of the vehicle first. The suspension is new with springs from Downey purchased from Mark's Off Road in CA. Truck has never left me left me stranded and has been a blast to drive and work on. The body is virtually rust free with the exception of the rear sill. Everything else is very solid and was to be repainted to it's original color of Dune Beije as part of my last thing to do before I could call it complete. There is a small dent on the drivers side front fender from a tree that was in the way on Drummond Island. The vehicle has many scratches from our explorations. Our rules were always, "scratches are okay, dents are bad". Here is a description of the vehicle to give you a feel for what this truck is all about. 1978 Toyota Land cruiser FJ40. The door hinges are customs made by MC Offroad Designs. They are called EZ Hinges that allow you to take the doors off like a jeep. No puling the pins and hitting your windshield hinge, etc. A new tow bar is included that allows you to flat tow this cruiser. I can pull this at 65 to 70 all day long with my pick up truck. I will also throw in a set of madnetic trailering lights so you can just hook up and go. Thanks
