Vehicle Detail
This truck was built entirely at my fabrication shop (More pics @ TITANSM.COM and video @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvxJ1no5JKg ). It was built with performance and reliability as the main build properties. I started with a 1975 Chevy C-10 (1/2 ton pickup) frame with independent front suspension and factory disc brakes. These frames were prone to cracking at the gearbox, but this has been gusseted with 1/8” steel plate to avoid this. The rear suspension is from a 1995 Ford Thunderbird. It is an 8.8” rear differential (welded spider gears and NEW 3.55 ratio gears) with independent suspension and disc brakes. Front and rear coil springs have been kept from each respective vehicle (shortened) to keep the ride firm but not jarring. Both front and rear A-arms have been set “flat” to provide the best possible handling. The center section of frame is twin tube (1.75” od. 0.095” wall DOM tubing) which ties the T-bird to the C-10, with integrated battery box, fuel tank mounts and drive shaft safety loop. The drive shaft is NEW from Front Range Driveline. The Aluminum fuel Tank holds 15 gallons, has an internal sump built-in (with –6AN and -8AN fittings); sides and internal baffles are constructed from ¼” thick, top and bottom are 1/8”. Fuel line is stainless braided. Fuel pump is Summit “Blue.” Transmission was just re-sealed and is a T-5 five speed manual. Brake and clutch pedal assemblies are Wilwood, as are the clutch and brake master cylinders. The engine is a pretty standard 383 Chevy (350 with a 400 crank). Compression is about 11 to 1 with Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads with roller rockers (approx 400 crank horsepower), and a very mild hydraulic cam (it idles just fine at 650 rpm). It runs just fine on 91 octane (never had any problems with detonation). Exhaust is handled by Hedman headers that tie into a 3”collector that flow thru a 4”muffler (Similar to a Flowmaster super 40, but also made at my shop). Cab is a 1951 GMC (that’s what the clear Colorado title says) and has integrated roll cage, 5”monster tach, Walnut floor and removable Grant steering wheel. I have the front fenders and hood, just haven’t had the time to mount them. Has offroad racing lights (for use as head lights), and simple trailer lights that act as tail and stop lamps. Lastly the wheels and tire are 22”x10” with 305-40-22 Falken tires. This truck has proven to be dead reliable and over the course of about 8000 miles (I daily drive it…weather permitting, 50 miles EACH way from my home to the shop) has even managed a best of 19 MPG. THIS IS NOT A “RAT ROD”! It handles awesome, is fast (it ran a VERY traction limited 14.8 @ 98mph at Bandimere Speedway which is a mile above sea level) and is comfortable enough for long distance highway cruising. In fact, I may be willing to negotiate delivery. If you have any questions feel free to call me @ 303-931-7871
