Vehicle Detail

This truck was built by "Custom Vehicles International" in Arlington, Texas. The I.D. tag on the drivers door has both the GM 17-digit VIN and the CVI # 307CL dated 5-6-85. It was built for "Brewer-Hughes Chevrolet/Pontiac" in Caldwell, Texas. I first saw this truck in 1996 as I was driving through Caldwell. It was not for sale but I had to turn around and go back. The original owner allowed me to look the truck over. It had 75,000 miles and looked as if it had just left the showroom. I didn't see it again until early 2006. This time it was for sale. It now had 76,000 miles and still looked as good as the first time. I called the phone number and spoke with the widow of the gentleman I had talked to in 1996. He had passed away shortly after I spoke with him in '96. It had been garage kept all its life. She kept the maintenance up on it and drove it about once a month to keep it in good shape. The Maintenance records are in the glove box. I bought the truck and kept it 7 months and then a friend wanted to buy it. Knowing my friend takes very good care of his vehicles I sold it to him in late 2006. He drove it fairly regularly and put 30,000 miles on it in 5 years. He kept it under a car port but also drove it to work occasionally where it would sit outside. Now the paint on the top is peeling. The side paint is still great with the hood paint presentable. I bought it back from him 8 months ago and have had a lot of fun with it. Now it is time to let it go again. It will get attention everywhere you go. Everyone that knows trucks will come up to talk with you. The truck has never been wrecked and has absolutely zero rust. There is one very small split on the edge of the drivers seat and the headliner is just starting to droop in a couple of spots. The rest of the interior is excellent. The dash looks great with no cracks. Door panels look great. Under the hood is original and looks great. It is the original 305-4V, V-8. The A/C blows cold. The cruise, tilt, powers windows and locks work. The original AM/FM Stereo Cassette player works and sounds great. Even the clock still works. It has dual gas tanks and the switch works to swap tanks and fuel level indication. It has new tires, a new battery, a fresh oil change and a new factory tail pipe. You can fly in and drive it home anywhere. It runs and drives great. It has current registration and inspection. If you have been looking for one of these rare trucks you will not be disappointed. Very reasonable reserve. Please do not bid unless you are serious. Ask questions first. If you have less than 10 feedback please contact me before bidding. If you are close enough, come look at it. I am in Rockdale (Milam County) Texas. I will not arrange shipping but will assist loading. The truck or the title will not leave here until cashiers check is cleared. $500.00 deposit thru PayPal within 24 hrs. The balance will be cash or cashiers check within 5 days. After listing I noticed that there are shadows on the pictures of the hood making the paint appear to be bad. It is not. On Jul-27-11 at 05:54:51 PDT, seller added the following information: RARE>>>>These trucks are extremely rare. General Motors did not start making extended cab trucks until 1988. The dealers were losing business to Ford and Dodge who were making extended cab trucks already. The dealers started sending trucks out to custom conversion shops and having these trucks customized. There were not a lot of them done. I have only seen four and most people that stop to admire this truck have never seen one. This rare truck is an extremely clean survivor that is in the original condition as it was sold. It has been extremely well maintained its entire life. You can Google "CVI" or 1985 chevy extended cab and get more info. There are several forums concerning these rare trucks.
