1979 Honda CBX

here is a 79 cbx that i purchased out of florida from the second owner[an elderly gentleman]the first owner being his buddy. this sat in his garage for 16yrs unused.i took it home cleaned the carbs rebuilt both master cylinders-all 3 calipers.flushed out the brake lines. new plugs-petcock. the bike runs good but the carbs really need to come back off and be sent to a gentleman named mike nixon. the carbs were never fine tuned and some times one or more of the floats stick[obvious some crud left in the carb body].i knew i should have sent them out to mike from the beginning[too cheap??]. anyway they come off in about an hour. the bike is in excellent shape not showroom but very very nice.it does has some flaws that i will point out.slight imperfection in the seat[seen in pic] a small scratch and chip in the paint[seen in pic].some fading and slight scratching on the front fender. the bike did fall over in his driveway and scratched the tach as well as the valve cover edge and put a nice rash\ dent in the muffler. the exhaust that is on it now is from a 1981 and is in great shape but does have a small dent on the right side muffler.i purchased a mint valve cover and a nice tach that i have not installed. they DO NOT go with the bike but will sell them for what i paid. the prior owner removed the decals on the chain guard as well as the frame and painted the foot peg mounts[this paint will easily come off]. the bike really is in nice shape. with no rust on the frame at all. the rims are excellent as well as the tailpiece.it does suffer from a noisy clutch but i was told they all were that way and the fact the carbs are not balanced make it even more noisy. the side covers are mint with no broken tabs.one exhaust stud hole will need to have a helicoil installed.all in all this is a bike you can be proud of once the carbs are corrected. i am going to take more pics in the next day or two so please email for them. i want all parties involved happy. if you have questions or offers call steve at 845-863-6327. storage is no problem but bike needs to be paid for in full. call keyboard motorcycle shippers at 270-737-5797 to inquire about shipping. i will keep adding to the description as i think of things, thanks,steve if you use the buy it now i will throw everything i have for this cbx in as part of the deal. this includes the tach-the gauge housings-the valve cover-the stock 79 exhaust-new original speedometer and tach cables still in the honda bags-a new extra solenoid still in the honda bag- honda shop manual plus whatever else i have for a cbx. if your in the market for a cbx you really should look at this one.look at the cbx completed auctions. they all need some kind of work. remember i have the tach, valve or cam cover, gauge housings to replace the ones damaged on the bike. frame decals are available aftermarket. im not desperate so your $5000 offers will not buy this. come look at this anytime. you wont be disappointed. if your skeptical about the miles i am sure the previous owner wont mind you talking to him about this bike.[they are good people]
