Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my '69 Opel GT. I am the 3rd owner. It was bought new in California where it stayed until 2005 when the 2nd owner purchased it and delivered it to Kentucky. I bought it from the 2nd owner in April 2010. It has always been garaged under all 3 owners and I believe the mileage of 47,937 to be accurate. I am selling this car to make room to keep another car I have coming in September. I looked for years before finally finding this rust-free CA black plate example. It is Regal Gold/Black and has had 1 re-paint in the original color in 1992. The paint still has good appearance with no damage or rust, but has it's share of nicks and dings. Too good to be re-painted & in my opinion is driver quality. The chrome bumpers are a 10 with no dings, dents, rust etc. The only thing I would do and was going to if I kept this car is replace the battery box. These we're plagued by the chronic battery corrosion problem. I have a new one I purchased from GT Source I'll include in sale. I had (2) local body shop estimates to weld in the new battery box and repair a small area on the belly pan below the battery box. The estimates we're from $320 to $425. This car should need nothing mechanically. It truly runs and drives great with no funny noises. The clutch/transmission shifts smooth with no slippage, chatter or gear noise. The original 1.9L engine runs perfectly and attests to the 47,937 miles. Over the past year I have replaced all coolant hoses including original molded radiator hoses, thermostat, new fuel pump and hoses, NOS rear brake cylinders, front brake pads, all brake hoses, rear transmission mount, spark plugs, plug wires, dist. cap, points, rotor & condenser, air filter, oil & filter, under-hood rubber seal set, wiper blades, windshield & rear window chrome trim and lots of other nickel/dime items. Everything works as it should including the factory clock & windshield washers. The headlamps rotate/lock smoothly. Also it still has it's original solex carb. Most of these have been replaced by webers, but I have no issues with this one. The interior has also stood the test of time. The original seats and carpet are original and in excellent condition. Only the driver's seat has a slight scuff on the bottom bolster, not hardly worth mentioning-but visible. The original spare tire (lightly used) and original factory jack & tool roll are present in storage area under the rear deck. The rear vinyl curtain and rear storage area showing no wear and original tire changing sticker still there & in good shape. The headliner is in excellent condition. The simulated wood steering wheel has several cracks. The original dash had a couple of cracks in it and I covered it with an ABS Black plastic dashcover from GT Source. I installed it correctly using the silicone sealeant and it fits like a glove and looks great. All of the original Owner's manuals, Dealer location booklet, dealer promo leaflets, Factory service and parts manuals, Original keys including antenna key, Road & Track article-go with car. I even have the original CA Black plates & registration and lots of receipts that go with car. Please email any questions & thanks for looking!
