Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a very nice driver condition 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 clone. It is a true fastback per the VIN #. My son and I did a full restoration on this car almost 6 years ago. The body was completely redone. The Shelby kit included the fiberglass front nose piece, The hood and the upper and lower side scoops. The upper side scoops are functional and still work with the inside vents. We modified them so they will function. The grill was a custom grill. The front fenders were replaced as was the rear quarters. The quarters where installed by a body shop. The doors were purchased used and now have a couple of rust blisters showing on the lower parts of both doors. We also replaced 3 of the 4 floor pans. The trunk lid is supposed to be an original Shelby trunk lid but I can not verify that. The taillights are from a Cougar but my son modified them to show the unique grill pattern. They are NOT sequential. There is a brand new complete wiring harness from Painless installed. The engine in the car is a 302 that was completely redone and is bored .30 over and has 4V heads. It has an Edlebrock 650 carb. The trans is a used T-5 that runs like a champ. This is a blast to drive. It has a cable clutch so it is also very easy to drive. The car has power steering and power front disc brakes. The color is a green metal flake with the white strip all painted. The paint is nice but not show quality. My son also drove this car for 2 1/2 years while in high school and one summer after his first year in college. The reason we are selling is because he has out grown the car literally. His head hits the roof. The interior was completely redone with a new interior kit including new foam. The interior is in great shape except for the painted parts. They could use a repaint to make look real nice. The headliner was also replaced. It has a used center console that does not have the radio portion. The fold down rear seat needs new chrome. We just painted it so it would look better. The carpet on it is also faded from the sun. Has a brand new passenger side mirror. The driver side remote mirror needs to be replaced. The car comes with an original remote mirror with rubber gasket that is in very nice condition it just needs to be installed. The windshield and rear glass are both original and have some scratches in both. Not horrible but definitely noticeable. The stainless around both are nice but the 1 front side piece does have a couple of dents. It has a nice AM/FM CD stereo with 4 speakers and an electric antenna in the trunk. 3 of the 4 wheels are in good shape but the left front has some rust that cannot be steel wool'd out anymore. These were not expensive rims. The tires have about 5000 miles as does the engine. It was only driven around town for the most part. The car starts right up. Things this car will need:The battery is weak. It takes a charge but does not hold it for long unless it is disconnected.New black carpet for rear fold down seat is badly faded.Fold down rear seat needs chrome pieces. Will need a tire for the spare rim.Does not have a jack The car comes with the shop manual and some spare parts. There are pillar pads that have never been installed. There is a car cover but it is a very cheap one and I would suggest you get a new one. All in all this is a very nice driver. It looks great going by and always turns heads. It runs good and sounds good. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. The car is still registered and insured so it is drive able. The inspection sticker is outdated so it can't go far. I encourage anyone interested to come see the car. I do not have a Buy it Now but if someone makes me a reasonable offer I will post one. I reserve the right to end this auction early because it is being offered locally. Please only serious bidders only! On Jul-10-11 at 16:39:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the temp gauge and the oil gauges do not work. They are original but have never worked. What you may not be able to see is I put an after market Tach in the center which was originally blank. It looks like it was factory the way we put it in. I would get after market oil and temp gauges to put in the same way if I were to keep the car. I want to be totally honest about the car and will post more as I remember things. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will also be happy to talk to anyone just email me with a number to reach you.
