Vehicle Detail

1970 Fiat 124 Spider – 53k original miles in excellent survivor condition with the original 1438 cc motor and 5 speed transmission. I am the second owner and have owned it since 1997. This Fiat has always been properly maintained, stored and never driven in winter. It is solid with only minor surface rust as shown in photos (there are NO holes or soft spots anywhere). 1970 was the only year with a 2 piece side marker light/reflector. Everything works with the exception of the clock and windshield washer (pump works, but needs tubing replaced). Paint is mostly original with the exception of both doors, front passenger fender & rocker panel and the hood. The original owner was meticulous about this car and had these areas re-sprayed many years ago to address minor dings, but it has never been in any type of accident. It shows the patina of a true survivor with only minor chips and wear associated with its age. The interior is beautiful with original sunvisors, carpet with original padding underneath, upholstery is excellent with amateur re-stitching on driver’s seat by first owner. The dashboard is perfect with no cracks or splits. Even the vent window latches are still in place! There is no radio. The top boot cover is like new. Both sets of original keys and all owners’ manuals are included. The car starts right up, has good oil pressure, doesn’t overheat and runs well through all the gears without grinding or funny noises of any kind. I am also including a rare set of Cromodora wheels that I bought many years ago with the intention of restoring them for this car. They are in very good condition, have new center caps and proper bolts for mounting. I purchased this Fiat with 34k miles and have added less than 20k over the 14 years I have owned it. I can send additional detailed photos on request. These early cars are very hard to find. My reserve is very fair and is based on my insurance policy with Hagerty. Connecticut does not issue titles for vehicles older than 1981. I do have a copy of my original Massachusetts title as well as the Connecticut title issued to the original owner. I will provide a Connecticut H-31 Bill of Sale form. Due to its age, this car is sold as is and does not come with any warranty. Please email with any questions or to schedule an appointment to view my Fiat. Bidders with no feedback, please email me before bidding. All arrangements for shipping are the buyer’s responsibility. Thank you for looking at my Fiat and good luck bidding! On Jul-06-11 at 08:57:59 PDT, seller added the following information:* I neglected to mention the convertible top has 5" tear on passenger side, but is otherwise in excellent condition. On Jul-10-11 at 07:59:01 PDT, seller added the following information: * Thank you to those who have emailed or come to view my Fiat in person. I would like to clarify a couple of things. This car has always been properly maintained, i.e. regular oil/filter, timing belt, tune-ups, new water pump several years ago, etc. It may not be advisable for those who have asked or are planning to drive it across the country during the middle of a very hot summer and I can not guarantee or guess if a 41 year old car will make it trouble-free. Please consider shipping and its cost if you decide to bid. * Also... I have had a number of inquiries and interest in my Fiat from potential buyers outside of the US. I will only consider a foreign bid if you are clear in your communications regarding payment, shipment (which is solely your responsibility) and all importation duties, rules and regulations for your country. If you are not clear or tell me as one excited buyer stated, “ I will come to your home and drive the car to Miami. It will be an adventure!” You must first convince me that you fully understand your obligations or I will cancel your bid.
