Vehicle Detail

Your bidding on a 1973 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback. I found this car a month or so ago here in the Dallas, TX area. I purchased the car as a project and my plans were for a restomod smoothie. I had big plans, but it seems I am going to have to pass this on to someone else. I have bigger fish to fry now. History The 1973 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback has a very detailed paper trail that leads back to California. It was registered at one time on a VW registry website that showed it was still in California in 2007. When I purchased it here in Texas, the story was that the car was purchased by the seller’s father and brought to Louisiana. The car currently has a clear Louisiana title. I have not registered or tagged the car in Texas. Current Condition The 1973 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback needs to be gone over tip to stern. It does run and I do drive it around my neighborhood. It was converted from Fuel Injection to Dual Carbs sometime in its past. It starts and idles consistently when the battery is charged. Speaking of, it seems to have a weak battery, but it does take a charge and will hold it for a week. The car shifts out good and the clutch is solid. The brakes are the best part of the car. They are solid and work with no fade. The emergency brake also works very well. As you can see from the pictures the car is parked on a sloped drive way. The car has been lowered (torsion bars) front and rear and handles great. The original paint will hold a shine, but the whole car shows its age with imperfections through out. It is need of a full body work up. I have found very little rust on the car and the interior floor is very solid. I weigh 250+ lbs and I have stood in both the front and rear of the floor pans to test them. Speaking of the interior, as you can see from the pictures it is about 50/50. The car had nasty seat covers on it when I purchased it and I wanted to see what I had to work with. As you can see the fronts seats are do for a rework. The headliner will need to be replaced, but is workable for the time being. Both trunks have solid floor and good carpet. Overall, the car will make a good start for someone wanting to restore and drive a fairly rare car. Known issues: · Windshield wipers and washer sprayer do not work· Bright to dim switch intermittent· Drivers door missing arm rest· No horn hooked up· Marker lights and blinkers need new light bulbs· Bubbles in the lower passenger side of the front windshield· Rust on the drivers side front quarter panel just in front of the door The best part of the deal is all of the included extras that come with the car, take a look…
