Vehicle Detail

1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 I have owned this old rare full size classic convertible since June of 2005, and no longer have time to restore. It was purchased from a woman who had it in storage for the prior 10 years. It is currently in a black primer and awaits its new ownership. This car is ideal for the guy who would like to restore an old classic, or needs some of these hard to find rare parts. The last owner had the convertible top replaced in the period correct material. If you have one of these cars that needs a top it is relatively easy to remove the top and bolt right onto your car. I have never put the top down, and it looks near perfect. The interior door panels were all recovered, but have not been cut to fit the window cranks or door handles. I have a box full of the door handles and window cranks that can be installed after the new door panels are cut to fit. The dash is in very nice shape with no cracks. The interior is in overall pretty good condition except for the small spot on the drivers seated portion. This car has a lot of very expensive hard to find parts. The frame will need some work to make it roadworthy, and I'm sure the floor on the drivers side front would need a patch. The trunk is in nice original shape as shown in the pictures. The trunk compartment even has most of the original cardboard, and the original trunk mat. I believe just about all the chrome is present except for the left rear wheel opening molding. I have never used this Jetstar during my ownership, and I bought it without hearing the engine run. The woman told me that all the parts are original to this car including the numbers matching 330 engine, and that it ran great. I took her word for it, but never started it until last week. I just heard it for the first time, and it sounds excellent. I detailed the engine a little bit to make it look nice for the new owner. It will need some brake work, and it will definitely need a new rear bumper. I could see no evidence of this car ever being in an accident, and all the panels line up as they should. This is a very classy looking classic car that you very rarely see on the street or even at car shows. I regularly attend many various shows and I never see even one. This car will need a complete restoration to bring it back to its former glory, but it also has very many valuable parts that I believe are interchangeable with the Super 88, and the Dynamic 88. This is only a 3-day auction with the upcoming holiday weekend. I am running this auction as "No reserve", so kindly bid only what you are willing to spend for this classic. These old rare convertibles restored are worth quite a bit of money. This is a prime opportunity to receive a bargain at a nominal price. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. Please ask as many questions as you like if you feel I may have left anything out. Good Luck, Happy 4th of July, and Happy Bidding!
