Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a prime example of a numbers matching, un-abused 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. The car is a recent bank repossession and will be sold to the highest bidder, pending reserve. The car comes with 1 set of keys; no owners manual or other original documentation is available. The vehicle has been recently been inspected and appraised by a National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Triple Master Judge; below is his report of the car. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster Soft Top, No Hard Top VIN: 19467S104217 Build Date: Nov. 21, 1966 in St Louis Exterior Color: 984AA - Sun Fire Yellow Interior Color: 467 Std - Black Vinyl Interior The black vinyl interior is correct for the trim tag. It is in good condition and serviceable. There are signs of age and wear which would be normal. The dash pads, glove box and instrument panel are complete and have a fair appearance however; the amp gauge & clock do not work. The brake warning lamp blinks continuously and the radio is not Corvette original and looks out of place. The sun visors are worn but intact and not torn. The door and window mechanisms work as normal. The horn is inoperative and the horn button is missing. The rear storage cover is worn & the lug wrench is missing. The interior lamp does not work. Exterior The exterior paint is Sun Fire Yellow as designated by the trim tag 984AA, which corresponds to a St Louis built car. The fiberglass body is in good condition with no signs of major repairs. Some areas show red overspray paint leaving evidence of a past red repaint. The underside of the body has original type bonding strips. The fiberglass body displays a typical fit of hood and doors. The convertible top is in good condition but is an older replacement. The rear window (plastic) is slightly yellow with age and void of a date code and mfg. information. The top weather strip is in fair to good condition. The bumpers are nice but have been re-plated and are a bit wavy. The car has the AO2 option glass (tinted windshield only). Wind shield is properly date coded but displays some signs of wiper scratches. All door glass is in good condition and properly dated for the car. The driver door exterior mirror is a replacement without the Bowtie® emblem The left headlamp assembly will not raise and all the headlamp bulbs are not the Guide T-3 type. The stainless trim and chrome for the windshield and door glass are in good condition. The exhaust side pipes and covers are not original to the car. The car left the factory with under the car exhaust. The rear valence panel is a replacement panel without the exhaust outlets. The body panel at the front and rear of both sides have been cut away to facilitate the side exhaust. The bolt on style wheels are very nice but they are reproductions. Engine Engine block cast number 3892657 Engine block cast date K-26 = Nov. 2, 1966 Intake manifold cast date F186 = June 18, 1966 Engine VIN derivative 7104217 = 1967 seq # 104217 Assembly date V1109HE V=Flint MI Nov 9 HE=300 HP The engine assembly checks original to the car and the machine marks left on the engine stamp pad appear to factory original. The cylinder heads display the double hump patterns as expected but the date codes are internal and not visible. The only remaining part of the ignition shielding is the top cover. The exhaust manifolds and lead pipes have been replaced with aftermarket headers. The carburetor is correct but the date code is too early for the car. The distributor is correct but the date code is not visible. The air cleaner has been modified on the base. The valve covers are the aluminum high horse power but should be stamped metal type. Engine wiring is sound with slight repair. Chassis Alternator assembly does not have the correct part number or date code. The voltage regulator date does not coincide with the car. The coolant hoses and clamps are atypical for the car. The water pump & fan appear to be correct for the car. The battery box is not correct and the hold down is missing. Battery cables are cut off and repaired. The master cylinder assembly is worn but correct with an aftermarket cap. The frame is in very good condition but has been undercoated in some areas. Most suspensions parts are original but aged & worn. The front brake hoses have been replaced with stainless braided hoses. The transmission date can't be seen but it appears as if it has a newer case. The differential looks as though it has never been out of the car. Date code is not visible. The spare tire tub is broken and cracked. Functional Check The gas at the carburetor smells stale but the car runs fairly well at idle and low speed for a car after an extended storage. The exhaust has some gas smell richness with slight dark grey smoke. There was no engine miss at low speed and idle. A low speed short drive proved the clutch to work normal, transmission to shift all gears & brakes to apply. No tag, extended storage and traffic disallowed a normal test drive. It is my opinion this Corvette would make a make a good driver quality car with a good inspection and normal maintenance of mechanical system and safety items. The originality of this Corvette makes it a good candidate for a restoration with most of the vital items still being present on the car. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As mentioned, the car has recently been appraised. The reserve for this car has been set at the lower end of the appraisal range; however, the bank will more than likely sell this car to the highest bidder, even if the bid is slightly under the reserve price. Ownership of the car will be transferred via Georgia title. The bank will also provide an Affidavit of Repossession which will aid in ownership transfer. The car is being sold AS IS with no warranties either expressed or implied. Georgia buyers must pay 7% sales tax. The vehicle is being kept in climate controlled storage in Dalton, Ga. so if you would like to schedule an inspection prior to bidding, please ask. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. If you would like a picture of a certain item / area on the car, please let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate. Thanks for your interest. Good Luck! FYI…I have been selling on Ebay for approximately 10 years and have sold probably 100 repossessed vehicles on Ebay at previous banks I have worked for. Please see “brad_ramsey2000” for my 100% positive feedback rating. On Jul-01-11 at 05:59:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: A fellow bidder pointed out to me that one of the pictures is incorrect. There is one picture listed that shows a gas tank and exhaust lines. Please disregard this as this particular picture is of the underside of a 1969 Pontiac GTO that I also have listed. Sorry for any confusion.
