Vehicle Detail
Hi Folks, Up for auction is my 1965 Ford Galaxie XL convertible. It has a big block 390 with a four speed transmission. I have added as many pictures as I can, so you can see the condition of the car. Although some welding has been done to the frame rails, there is some more that needs to be done. With the combination of having the big block engine, four speed transmission and being a convertible, the car is very much worth the effort! The car runs good, rides good and drives good. The engine sounds strong, but the exhaust is very quiet and the car rides like a large older car should. The engine idles a little rough, but after you take off, it has plenty of power. The power steering is there, but is pretty stiff to turn. The transmission shifts very smooth, it had a new cluch installed by the previous owner and the car still has the origional shifter. The tires have near 100% tread and the wheel covers are in really good condition. The brakes are drum and it has a good pedal. On un-even roads, the brakes will pull to the right some. The car is a true survivor, even down to the AM radio. (which still works) The top is ok, some small tears, but the power top goes up and down just fine. It also has the rear glass instead of a cheap plastic rear window. The interior is very clean, the seats are in really good shape for the year of the car. They clean up really well. Someone has put a new carpet in, but it needs finished. The dash is all origional and I have the horn ring, but it is not attached. The windshield has a crack and the body has had some filler in the past. It is starting to crack over the wheel wells and there are some dings as well. The bumpers need replaced or rechromed, they are dull in several spots. I want to keep an excellent feedback, and I am usually more critical on myself that anyone else. I just want the winner of the auction to know that this is a complete, drivable, cool car to own, but will need some work before any car shows. The previous owner had the car ten years and I have had it less than one year. With a recent shoulder surgery, I just can't do the car justice and I don't want to see it sitting around. I am really torn between selling the car or keeping it until I can do something. Anyway, I have set the reserve at a very reasonable amount and encourage you to come see the car or email for any questions you may have. I live in Frankfort Indiana, 46041 and am about sixty miles north of Indianapolis. Thanks for looking and have fun bidding! George...
