Original owner, private seller of 2001 new beetle GLX turbo with automatic. Car is loaded and runs fine. White leather, green exterior. Had new transmission put in 1,000 miles ago. Multi CD player, moon roof. Needs exhaust system work per dealer. Car also needs some minor body work, because of the big wide premium wheels this car has a very low ground clearance and over the years we have damaged the front cowl and shroud which goes under radiator. Currently theses 2 parts are off along with the fog lights. I have parts. No damage to fog lights; shroud is no good (but not expensive) cowl may or may not be saved. Fun, peppy, fast car, driven by adults; but now needs some TLC. All repairs and maintenance done at dealer. I checked the build sticker and the car is a GLX.On Jun-30-11 at 10:04:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I have had a lot of questions and here are the answers: The new transmission (reg. $4000 dealer job) was done in November of 2010 at Pugi Volkswagen. There is a warranty, but it is not transferable. The car has not been driven in a month, and I just reactivated full coverage. The last 2 years the car was driven to work or school by my daughter/wife; which means under 10 miles a day. I am going to take it out on the highway later today. Exhaust work needed is a catalytic converter for sure; maybe more. It is the original system. The two rear tires look new; there may or may not be a slow leak in the driver's front tire. The white leather upholstery has no rips that I saw. We are all nonsmokers. It could use a good cleaning. All power accessories work; there are some small interior trim pieces laying around in car or missing. Please note: that because this is a turbo with a wide wheel base wide tires and very low ground clearance means certain things one being is that it is a laugh riot to drive around, but if you are giving it to a kid you'll be shelling money out in no time as they hit a small pot hole, driveway curb etc. Also you can expect more maintenance with the turbo. I think the front cowl can be repaired with some a little creative work; some sanding, and paint, it does have a crack through the bottom. The shroud is gone, I can only find one foglight, I know I have the other one. Oil was changed about 2000 miles ago; it is full now, also dirty needs to be changed, Good news as no oil was used and leaked. Front tire definitely has a slow leak. Check engine light is on; I feel its for the catalytic converter and or some turbo maintenance. Drove the car handled and drove fine; brakes fin, happy with the power train. Power windows, power door locks, electric moon roof, AC, heated seats, power mirrors, 6 CD changer and AM/FM premium sound, wipers (new), all work. No blown speakers. I think the blue-book on this model in fair -good condition is around 5100-5400. I think what should subtract from the car is the exhaust maintenance that and the front cowl situation and dent under passenger door. It would be ideal if the buying part can do this themselves; because as nice as this car just ran for me;If you took this to the dealer; I think you are looking at 2,000 in repairs, maintenance. What should boost the value is the second most expensive component (transmission) replaced very recently.
