Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a rare, two owner 1968 MGC, with 59,700 miles. It has a removable hardtop, 15" wire wheels, electric overdrive and new galvanized fuel tank and sending unit. This car has been in dry storage for many years. This car would make a great rolling restoration or a comprehensive rebuild. I was attracted to MGCs as a great, reasonably priced alternative to the Austin Healey 3000. It has similar performance characteristics to the Healey, but with a body that is less complex, easier to restore and less expensive to maintain and repair. Condition: Drive train: Engine runs, but the hydraulics need rebuilt for the car to be a driver. The previous owner has removed the original brake servos and retrofitted the lines to function without servo assist. Additionally, the PO installed a new battery under the hood where one of the servos would normally have been installed. New fuel tank and sending unit recently installed. Body: The car is free of dents and looks good from 10 feet. The previous owner applied spray paint to the wire wheels and other areas of the car to protect from rust. It has its original aluminum hood. Has rust in driver's side floor pan and trunk floor. Replacement panels available through Victoria British. Minor bubbling on base of door. Paint is chipped on the hood. The hard top is complete with good glass. I have a new front turn signal unit for the car and it will be installed prior to sale. The car does NOT have a soft top or top frame. The vehicle also requires a new set of trunk and door locks. Interior: A bit tatty. Could use a new carpet set and seat covers. Several switches are broken and need replacing. The steering wheel is non-original. The dashboard has a new dash cap. Tires: Appear to be original to the car. They currently hold air but need to be replaced before driving. Reason for sale: I am a British car guy and have always wanted an MGC. I bought this car with the intent to restore and drive with minimal fuss. Unfortunately, within weeks of acquiring this car, my wife's van imploded. I now need the funds to replace her vehicle. My loss is your gain. I have done my best to think of all of the assets and deficiencies of this car. Please look carefully at the photos and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Cheers!
