Up for auction is a very complete 1969 “R” Code 428 Mustang Mach 1 Rolling Chassis. With a 4 speed manual transmission, and optional 3.50 deep axle ratio and traction lock differential, plus its 4 bbl 428 big block engine, this original Royal Maroon Shaker Hood 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 will really turn heads when properly restored. The previous owner added disk brakes off a 1970 Mustang. As you can see from the last picture below, the original Royal Maroon color with a Blackout Hood treatment will look beautiful when fully restored. Add new upholstory to the Black High Back Seats and a new Walnut Grain Mach 1 interior, there won't a better looking Mustang anywhere. The original 428 engine and 4 speed close ratio manual transmission are not included, but we have a 428 short block and top loader transmission available separately. We can help you complete this great restoration project with the correct matching numbers engine and transmission if you don't already have your own Cobra Jet driveline. There is some rust work needed around the rear quarters to make this car a show stopper, but the hood and front fenders look good, as does the deck lid Plan on the normal interior redo, engine and transmission rebuild, etc.. The car has the original quarter panels. Doors and fenders also look original. We were about to begin restoration where the previous owner left off, but we thought maybe someone would like to do some of the work and save some money. If the car does not sell now, we will begin restoration as soon as the auction ends, and the price will be much higher when we are finished. The car is an original Royal Maroon Mach 1 with Black Out Hood Treatment. The Mach 1 can be repainted to any color of your choice, but the original Royal Maroon and blackout hood is a great combination. The Mach 1 has a 3.50 Traction Lok axle 9” rear end, which was a special order for this car. When fully restored, this 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 will easily sell for $75,000 to $80,000. BODY: The frame of this Mach 1 is in good condition and straight which makes it a relatively easy car to restore. The floor pans are ready to go, but the grooves on the driver's side are not concourse correct. The rear quarters will need some work, and we can help you with that at MustangBeginnings if you don't plan to do the work yourself. We can include the replacement quarter panels, as well as the outer wheelhouses if you are planning to do the work yourself. All the body parts needed are included with the car. The doors and the hood are in good condition, but will need a little patching. If you are not up for doing the auto bodywork yourself, we have the experience and the knowledge at MustangBeginnings to do the job properly. Overall this Mustang is a great candidate for restoration because it is so complete. INTERIOR: The interior will need work but the good news is that you can see what is needed. You aren’t accepting someone else’s mistakes or bad repairs. All the wiring is in the car and seems to be in good condition. Dash is in good shape but the dash pad will need replacing or recovering. The seats will, of course, need to be reupholstered, and new carpet is needed as well. The door panels are missing, but you probably want new ones anyway. ENGINE BAY: Engine bay is in great condition, and ready for cleaning and paint. The original 428 Cobra Jet engine is not included, nor is original close ratio Top Loader transmission. Both engine and transmission are often available on Ebay, but we also have a couple of friends with rebuilt engines and transmissions for sale. BRAKE SYSTEM: The Mach 1 has its disk brakes from a 1970. The are a great addition to this Mustang. STEERING: All steering pieces are parts are intact and included. GLASS: The Mach 1 also has good door glass and side window glass. The windows roll up and down. The car has no cracks in the windshield or real window, but there are a couple of scratches that can be buffed out. The rear window is not included. MISC. This Mustang was built on February 5th, 1969, one day ahead of schedule. Mustangs were popular then and they still are today. As you can see from the last couple pictures this Mach 1 comes with head light buckets, seats, and most all of its parts. I have a couple of contacts for all the other NOS stuff you may need.
