Vehicle Detail
Ford F-250 XL 4x4 with 209,886 miles. This truck is an off lease truck which was owned by an Illinois company and spent its entire life in Athens, Tennessee. I purchased the truck from a dealer who had purchased the truck at a sale when the company sold it. The truck is just a good ole work truck. The truck is straight considering it has been a company truck and the mileage. The truck has signs of normal usage for a work truck. It is missing a reflector on the right front headlight assembly, has a dent at the top of the bed on the rear corner passenger side, is missing the spare tire carrier (has jack/tire tools), has the corner of the headlight switch assembly broken and the bottom of the bed is wavy due to usage. The truck has a 5.4L gasoline engine and a 4r100 automatic transmission. All features work on the truck as they should, cold air, cruise, factory stereo/CD, 4x4, etc. The truck has not had a gooseneck hitch in its life that I can tell. I have had the truck serviced; tires rotated/balanced, and the front end aligned. I have also recently installed new wiper blades. I had previously listed that the truck had a weak transmission and leaks transmission fluid when I pull my utility trailer. I carried the truck to a very good local transmission shop and they have explained that this is a common weakness for Ford trucks of this model while towing due to heating. The shop manager placed a code reader on the truck and test drove the truck without a trailer. The transmission stayed within normal temperature range at both reading points and did not display any error codes for the transmission. It does have an occasional rattle when shifting into Overdrive. The manager stated that it could be a "sprag" ring starting to go bad on the high end, but findings did not warrant rebuilding the transmission. We continued to assess the truck and found that the radiator is a little dirty on the low side. He told me that quite often the transmission cooler is located there if equipped. His recommendation was to have all of the coolers cleaned by a local radiator repair shop to alleviate the potential overheating of the transmission while towing. The transmission temperature gauge has not shown to be overheating, however, the sensor may not be correct. There is the chance that the transmission may need to be rebuilt in the future at some point, I would suspect later than sooner based on comments of the shop manager. It carries me everywhere I need to go without problems presently as long as I am not towing my trailer. When I do tow the trailer, it leaks transmission fluid. I recently made a trip to Knoxville, TN and Maysville, Ky and back in the truck without issue. The truck is not new, has many scratches and dings which I have tried to show in the pictures. The truck is a little dirty as I simply pulled the truck out of the shed and took pictures. The front tires are about 90%, while the rear tires are approximately 30-40%. The GPS unit and the hitch pin/receiver slide-in with ball are not included with the truck even though they may be in the pictures. Please ask any questions prior to bidding.
