Vehicle Detail
Here is a rare 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2 door hardtop, no center post. Most were bought by family’s looking for something a bit sportier than the conventional sedan. It was also the first year of the Crown Victoria which was $70.00 more expensive. I have owned this car for the past 4 years and it was originally purchased to be a driver. It is a great example of the type of car that had options to make it easy to drive I take it out whenever the sun shines. The body is rust free and the car is Peacock blue ( a 1956 ford color ) and snow shoe white. It has the Style line two tone color design. The top and bottom are darker and the middle is lighter. This was an option that many Ford dealers did for individual customers. The interior is aqua blue and white vinyl with buttons pressed into the seats and seatbacks. The carpet is a dark green. The motor is a 272 y block V8. The car has Fordomatic and power steering. Since I have owned this car I have replaced front end parts, and The entire braking system . The car has a new generator, voltage regulator and a new 8 volt battery to help the anemic 6 volts that the car came with. The voltage regulator puts out 9 volts and the car always starts, hot or cold. There is a new starter motor and the points were replaced with an IGNITOR electronic ignition.. I switched the tires to radials in order to improve the cars handling. The body is straight and rust free. There are a few small nicks and scratches. They are not noticeable unless pointed out. The underside is clean and rust free. There is some surface rust on the frame , nothing of any concern. Instead of the standard issue full size ford hubcaps I chose to go with the dog dish and trim rings against the painted wheels. A lot of folks did this back in the day because it was cheaper and looked great The power steering hoses have some leakage but the system is tight and works as it should. The chrome and stainless are very good . The glass is very good. All the gauges work , the radio works and has a wire with a 3.5mm jack to connect a cd or mp3 player. There is a working wind up clock and a tissue dispenser All the lights work and are bright. The interior light needs to be operated with its light switch. There is a very rare Stadco “Lifesaver” 3 way rear stop light.. I added 2 dummy spot lights with working lights in both of them. They are controlled by under dash switches. I bought this car so my wife would be able to drive it. I have another Victoria with a 3 speed overdrive and manual steering. When you take this car out for a drive you had better not be in a hurry. We get stopped by everyone who sees it. “ My Grand father had one. My Dad had one, My uncle had one.”. I get to hear some great stories, and everyone wishes they still had a car like this. The car looks great, runs great, and always gets us home. You can drive this car every day and still attend a cruise night or a car show with great pride and amazing response from the public.
