Vehicle Detail

Here FOR SALE is my 1968 camaro I bought this car off of EBAY approximately 2 years ago with the intent of getting a nice base car to build an LS3 engine based pro-touring car and I got the solid car I wanted. When I purchased the car the previous owner (who had bought it from the ORIGINAL owner’s son) didn’t even realize it was a MATCHING number car. When I asked about the numbers, he could NOT find the numbers as the Engine block was dirty and painted over. (You can see that I have since fixed that by a simple detailing to the engine compartment SEE PICS.) CLEAR TITLE IN MY NAME IN MY HAND.IMPORTANT: BIDDERS with "0" or Negative Feedback, please contact me thru Ebay before bidding. Sadly, a few schmucks messing up auctions have tainted me. Sorry Here are the factory options: The engine is the original 327Ci, with the original Double hump heads. It has a mild cam, an Edelbrock 600 CFM carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold. 1 327 (275HP) L30 engine with double hump heads (ALL Fluids/filters are fresh along with a tune-up) 2. 2-speed Power-glide transmission (fresh fluid/filter) 3. 10 Bolt rear differential (Fresh Fluid) 4. 4-wheel POWER Drum brakes-Stops smoothly and will not pulling to left or right (Fresh Fluid) 5. Power steering A/C (I DO have the: compressor, evaporator, condenser and all engine brackets to re-install) I did NOT receive the car with working A/C so I can NOT comment as to work-ability of the above mentioned components. I believe they were taken off as the Fiberglass box on the firewall had to be cut or removed to install the headers. 7. SS appearance package (No way to prove…. this but it’s all there) 8. Ash Gold paint and Gold standard bucket seats and a Black Vinyl roof. NOW it’s Copper with Black SS Stripes TRIM TAG Decodes as follows. I have enclosed a picture of the trim tag and decoded it in the photo SEE PICS. http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-trim-tag-decode-1968.asp Below is a link to decode the VIN (as well SEE PICS) http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#VIN http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#PadStamps The car shows 43,342 miles SEE PICS, I can NOT prove these are “Original” miles but the car is really clean and tight. Keep in mind I drive the car to local cruise nights so a few more miles should be expected I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. New black interior (vinyl with cloth inserts) SEE PICS. All gauges and lights work with exception of the door buzzer SEE PICS. The paint is stunning on this car and was done about 5 years before I got it (so now about 7 years old) has a deep beautiful shine and stripes are buried under the clear so you can’t feel them. The stripes line up perfectly with the panels (hood, header panel, trunk, spoiler and rear window panel, etc. SEE PICS. All body lines and panel gaps are REALLY nice, doors open and close smoothly and do NOT sag. Original or NOS glass SEE PICS. Only minor scratches on rear window glass in one corner. All metal appears to be ORIGINAL with the exception of the Passenger front fender, both quarters, trunk pan and rear deck lid. Basically, the hood, roof, doors, inner and outer rocker panels, header panel and floors are ORIGINAL. The floor HAS been patched since I have owned it. Here is the procedure that I followed: 1. Interior was removed 2. Old metal was cut out 3. New pan was “plug welded” every 1”-1 ½” 4. ENTIRE floor area was chemically stripped to bare metal 5. ENTIRE area was seam sealed 6. ENTIRE floor was treated to POR15 “Metal Prep” and then painted with Black POR15 7. ENTIRE floor was then covered with a 30 MIL layer of FATMAT (similar product to DYNAMAT) from firewall to rear seat-brace. The FATMAT really quieted the car down and had a major impact on the heat that used to be absorbed into the passenger compartment from the newer 2 ½”exhaust (maybe 3 years old at most) This car runs DOESN'T hotter than 190° even on the warmest South Florida days. Great oil pressure and charging system! When I did this minor Detailing on the engine compartment I did the following: For pure purists, you will notice that in the engine compartment where the fenders meet the inner fenders, it’s NOW painted black v.s. the correct BODY color. I did this as the previous owner had attempted to paint the engine compartment BLACK and had over-sprayed this area and it looked terrible with black over-spray on the copper pant. 1. Replaced all belts and hoses 2. Removed hood hinges and the Headman headers, media blasted them and treated them to paint (for the hinges) and 2000° header paint for the headers 3. New header, intake and valve cover gaskets 4. Removed and hand-polished the valve covers, air filter cover and intake manifold 5. Striped all paint from the engine and repainted with correct Chevy orange. I did this in multiple steps with light coats. 6. New plugs/wires, carburetor tuned and engine timed correctly New parts installed or services performed within the past 12 months: 1. Replaced all Fluids and filters including: engine oil/filter, antifreeze, trans fluid and filter, brake fluid, fuel and air filter , PCV valve, and rear gear oil (2 weeks ago) 2. Replaced battery (6 months ago) 3. Beautiful removable custom carpet (insulated and sewn seams) in trunk (12 months ago) 4. Polished American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels 15 x 8 and 15 x 7 with virtually new matching tires (maybe 1,500 miles) (2 years ago) 5. Factory Rally Wheels and tires rims painted to match copper on car. 4 nice tires, 4 trim rings, and 3 center-caps (missing 1) 6. Replaces fuel gauge sending unit (6 months ago) 7. Installed Grant Wood steering wheel (horn is 100% working with this wheel (6 months ago) 8. Installed Stereo (NEW) and did NOT cut dash (radio is am/fm, with an IPOD hookup), Stereo system has: two (2) Kenwood amps, a Kenwood digital equalizer and two (2) 10” subwoofers (older ones I had from a past project) installed in a custom cabinet I built and carpeted. Infinity KAPPA series 6 ½” component speaker in custom kick panels SEE PICS (no metal cut to install) and Kappa Series 6 x 9” speakers in the rear deck (metal had been previously trimmed). “O” Gauge power wire with fuse-block. All top-end wire and gold plated connections (12 months ago) Now for the “less than great” condition items: 1. Passenger and Drivers door have some minor bubbling that has not grown or increased since I have owned it for the past two (2) years SEE PICS. You can clearly see in the PIC that I have measured the area and put the weakest magnet I have on the area to show it’s not a “bondo-bucket” 2. Roof above passenger door has some minor bubbling that has not grown or increased since I have owned it for the past two (2) years SEE PICS. You can clearly see in the PIC I have measured the area and put the weakest magnet I have on the area to show it’s not a “bondo-bucket” 3. There are various small chips maybe the size of a pencil eraser head in a couple spots and one 3” scratch on the driver’s fender. WHY am I selling this car? When I received the car, I realized it was a matching number car and it seemed stupid to cut it up and replace so many parts, not just because of the expense involved, but also due to the fact that it had so many original parts that I’d replace during the build. Needless to say, I have had my fun with the car, have retired from my job, have endless time to build my dream car and am looking for a shell or complete 6-cyl car to build. In case I forget to mention, please email me if you have questions that I do not address. Now for the legal stuff that keeps it fair for us all Please keep in mind this is a 1968 (43 year old car), and this being said, No warranty is expressed nor implied. Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping costs and arrangements. I’d be willing to drive the car to a major shipper in the Miami or the Fort Lauderdale area, but winning bidder must contact me to arrange this. The car is located in my two (2) car garage and that is where it can stay until picked up or shipped (within 14 days). I require an immediate $500.00 deposit VIA PAYPAL that is not refundable (due to listing fees and my time). The balance will be due within 7 days via certified check, bank transfer or cash in person. Car must be paid in full prior to shipping or pick-up. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the option to cancel auction. On Jun-18-11 at 05:55:41 PDT, seller added the following information:Here are the rest of the answers to the HBARRON's questions questions: 7.I am not sure on the miles since the rebuild but the engine is VERY strong, pulls well with a nice cam. The cam profile is NOT too aggressive, just a nice rumble. The power-brakes vacuum system are NOT affected by the cam, so no worries on that end. I can’t comment on the engine/transmission rebuild date as I did not receive that from the previous owner. I can offer that I have been a mechanic for over 25 years and there appear to be NO issues with either the engine or transmission. Shifting is effortless and the engine is smooth running with NO unusual noises (valves, piston slap, rod knock, none of this stuff here!!) 8.If you like, email me again, and I’ll disclose my phone number and we can discuss anything I did not answer for you. I had to many characters in my previous response and EBAY would not allow me to post all answers in the "question and answer" section
