Vehicle Detail

1961 Studebaker Hawk This is an older restoration with many recent improvements and repairs. This was my daily driver for a while until I stopped commuting to work. This car is in overall very good shape. The older restoration redid most of the exterior chrome, engine, transmission, paint and interior and looks to have been professionally done, this work was performed in California for a member of the friends TV show cast who drove this vehicle as her personal car for a while until it was sold to Texas. The black paint is good, but is showing some signs of use, some small scratches on the fenders and cracking of the paint on the trunk. The trunk lid is showing some bubbling on the lower driver side edge. Upgrades done over the last few years:- Cleaned up the electrical wiring, replaced and upgraded the fuse box- Installed a custom modern A/C, from vintage air, with the controls integrated in the dash (no modifications to the dash were made), blows cold and heats well- New modern holley 4 brl carburetor, using the original air cleaner housing with a modern K&N filter element- New dual reservoir master brake cylinder and serviced brakes- New fuel lines throughout with an electrical fuel pump mounted to the frame- Installed electronic ignition and updated all ignition components.- New starter motor and solenoid- New mufflers A previous owner installed (looks professional) a modern radio/CD in the car, to accomplish this the aluminum machine turned dash was cut. This is a very nice car and would make a very nice driver and would do very well at your local cruise night or carshow, I always got lot's of attention everywhere I went. This car still has the original engine and transmission, the engine is a Studebaker 289 Cubic Inch with a factory 4brl intake manifold and factory chrome valve covers and air cleaner. The automatic transmission shifts strong with it's non-standard (to modern drivers) shift pattern. As far as I know there are no major issues with the car, the engine has good compression and idles and pulls well, the transmission shifts fine and both run cool. Items that I know not to be functional:- Automatic door locks with remote control (battery in the remote may be dead)- Tach, the tach has never been hooked up, never looked into this Mileage is unknown. I have a clean Texas title in my name. The car can be inspected by appointment, please contact me through ebay to set a time.I can help with shipping after all funds have cleared my bank, I've several international car shipping companies close by that can help you arrange shipping, nearest port is Houston, TX. I can not transport the car and will not deliver.
