Vehicle Detail
Clean and well maintained BMWK75C motorcycle. Purchased in '08 through Ebay motors from a dealer in Massachusets, don't know how many owners. I bought it with 75,620 miles on it and put the balance of the miles I rode on in the first couple of years I owned it. The bike runs great and is very smooth with no vibration, the small fairing does a pretty good job of keeping the wind off of you and the top case is a great size for use when commuting (which is what I used the bike for). The bike does have all three touring cases and they are in pretty good shape, it has the original tool kit, it has the engine guards as well as the hand guards and has a wiring connection for a battery tender installed. I am including a Clymer manual for the bike as well as an oil filter wrench for DIY oil changes. In '08 I had a major service performed by the dealer (BMW 12k interval service) which included a valve adjustment and lubricating the splines as well as a general tune up. In '09 I had the instrument cluster rebuilt because the case was cracked and it was allowing moisture in (by Overseas Speedometer on the web @ speedometer.com). The speedo and tach were checked out, the case was replaced with the new version that has the gore tex breathers on the bottom, the LCD clock and gear indicator were replaced and the light bulbs were replaced with LED versions that illuminate green at night. In May of this year the battery was replaced along with upgrading the ground wire and the fuel pump, fuel filter and strainer were replaced by the same BMW dealer. The bike does need some work and this is really why I am selling it. I don't ride it enough and I don't have the time or money to fool with it. Not to mention my wife wants it out of the garage. Here are the issues that need to be addressed. It will need new tires, not immediately but in the near future. It has Michelin Macadam's on it, the front is pretty worn but the back has lost it's profile and is flat across the center. The speedometer doesn't work intermittently and I believe it is the rear sensor or there is a short in the wire between the cluster and the sensor. The tank has developed a rust spot at the lowest point on the left side of the bike (shown in pictures). This is directly under where the fuel pump sits inside the tank. I don't know if the prior owner patched it at one time because the spot is not rusted all the way through but the fuel is seeping through the tank and has bubbled up the paint. You can't see fuel dripping from this spot but you can smell a faint smell of fuel and the fuel rail and #1 injector is usually damp. If I wipe it off at night it will be damp again in the morning. There are a couple of routes that can be taken to fix this and I want to leave it up to the buyer to decide what they want to do. You can use POR15 or Kreem to coat and seal the inside of the tank yourself ($40-50 dollars), you can send it to someone like Moyer Fuel Tank Renu who will do the same thing professionally ($300-400 dollars) or you can buy a replacement tank on Ebay (about $200 dollars) but most of them are from parted out bikes and they could still have rust issues and it would probably need to be painted to match the bike. As you will see from the pictures the overall cosmetic appearance of the bike is very good but there are scratches on the rear grab handles, some little chips from rocks or road debris on the radiator shroud and there are three spots where the prior owner has used touch up paint on the body (one under the frame for the top case, and on both sides of the side covers). The bike also fell off it's side stand once and you will see where there are some scratches on the engine guards and the back of the mirror got scratched up. I don't know of any other issues with the bike but do be aware you are bidding on a 25 year old motorcycle. If you do any research on these models on the internet you will find out they are described as bullet proof and will run forever so this bike has many years of good ridding left in it. If you have any questions please ask. Winning bidders will be required to pay a $500 dollar down payment through PayPal within 48 hours of the auction end. The balance will need to be received within 7-10 days and be in the form of a cashiers check or money order. Sales tax and any title fees will be the responsibility of the buyer. The winning bidder will be responsible for the pick up or shipping of this vehicle. I will work with the shipper of your choice to arrange for the pick up if you go through this route. I do have a reserve on the bike but have lowered it since this is a relist. The new reserve is less than the final amount bid on the first listing so this bike should sell. Thank you and happy bidding.
