Vehicle Detail
A true time capsule with under 15,000 miles. It may or may not see another hundred or so miles before the end of the auction. (It is fun to ride.) This matching numbers bike was ridden very little over the first half of it's life. Seventeen years ago it was put away (with the carbs drained and apparently new oil throughout) and left in a garage. The last inspection sticker from 1994 is still on the forks. I bought it from someone who bought it from the widow of that owner. It still had almost two decades of dust on it. After checking it over I installed a battery and fresh gas and hit the starter. It started immediately and idled right down. Since then I have installed a new rear tube and ridden it roughly 50 miles without incident. The bike is currently on the road. The handlebars and mirror stalks have rust on them. The headlight ring has a dent in the top. One footpeg rubber is cracked. The lock for the seat is missing. It comes with all the factory keys. The bike is all original paint. There are no dents, chips or scratches in the gas tank or back fender. The seat seems to be original , as does everything about the bike. If you have wished you could get your hands on a new 1972 that hasn't been molested, wrecked, or restored, this is probably as close as you'll get. The back four inches of the front fender were broken off and reattached with no filler and only touch up paint covering the cracked edge. The right side panel has three tiny holes drilled in it. The left side petcock has a leak. I included pictures of the bottoms of the heads to show no sign of this bike ever tipping over or being crashed. Everything functions. The tool kit and under seat tray seem complete. The factory tire air pump is there too. I included two pictures of inside the back wheel from when I changed the tube. I did not clean anything before those were taken. The bike appears as new inside as out. Feel free to email any questions. I will show the bike but there will only be test rides as passenger. This auction is open to world wide bidders. 0 feedback or <95% feedback bidders must contact me before bidding or I may cancel your bid. Please watch for my two separate auctions for a chrome luggage rack and Wixom fairing that fit this bike. On Jun-06-11 at 19:00:54 PDT, seller added the following information:I just listed a Wixom fairing and a chrome rack for this bike in separate auctions. These two auctions end shortly after the bike in case the new owner wants these items also. These no reserve items could be shipped with the bike to save the buyer a few dollars.
