Vehicle Detail
1969 Dodge Coronet R/T Convertible Here is a prime opportunity to finally own a full size B-Body Mopar Muscle Car convertible at a reasonable price. These cars are getting harder and harder to locate. I purchased this car with the intention of making a Super Bee convertible, and never got around to it. This car is really a Coronet 500 convertible that the 2nd owner installed the hood scoops, and all the R/T badging back in the early 80's. I have the clean and clear title from 1982. It seems that the rear quarter panels, and the gas tank were replaced at some point. The doors and fenders look to be original, so all the gaps still line up right. The prior owner said that this car was painted in the mid 80's, and he only drove it during the summers or nice days. He always kept it in a garage until I made the purchase in 2009. This body, the floors, and the frame still look in decent shape. The chrome and trim is all on the car, and in nice drivers quality condition including the front and rear bumper guards. As you can see from the pictures, this car was well taken care of for being 42 years old. There are very few imperfections, and I believe as long as this car stays garage kept it will last as well as it appears today. My vision was to paint this car Hemi orange and apply the black Bumble Bee stripes over the rear quarter panels and trunk. That preference will now be left up to the next owner. This is a great car to simply drive as is, or turn into whatever model you desire. The convertible top is in nice shape and works well. The original top was replaced with the period correct vinyl material and glass back window. Anyone who has ever owned one of these cars know how incredible these tops latch, and go up and down. I feel these cars have the smoothest working muscle car convertible tops. The original boot that covers the top comes with the car. All the windows roll up and down very nicely. I just replaced the wiper blades, and the wipers work fine. The interior is still in nice shape as shown. I believe the carpet may have been replaced at some point, but the seats look to be the originals. All of seat belts are still in place. The horn even works, but the AM radio does not. I think it will work fine, but it was disconnected due to a CD player that was formerly hooked up under the dash. This Dodge has a Big Block 383 cubic inch engine with a 727 torqueflite transmission. The 440 Magnum decal that appears on the air cleaner was placed there by the last owner. This classic Dodge convertible sits on a set of Mopar sport wheels with all four trim rings and centers on raised white lettered 235/60R14 inch tires with nice tread. The bushings were all replaced on the front and rear sway bars with newer shocks on the rear. Thus making the ride very smooth as it drives down the road. The dual exhaust sounds quiet and you can barely hear this engine run. There are no ticks, knocks, or noises in this engine. A new Holley carberator was replaced in 2007 with a manual choke that operates from under the dash. It probably has less than 500 miles of usage, but I could do without that choke. It takes too long for the car to warm up. I must say that this is one of the nicest driving and riding cars that I have ever owned. It took many years for me to finally find a B-body convertible, but a situation has risen where I must part with it before I ever got a chance to really enjoy it. I stored this car my entire ownership, and drove it less than 200 miles. I just pulled it out last week and installed a brand new Die Hard battery. The original jack and possibly the original ply spare tire are in the trunk with a new trunk mat. The prior owner also left a bunch of misc. Mopar items in the trunk that will be included in this sale. According to my Nada Price Guide that I have from 2008, a 69 Coronet R/T convertible is valued at $56,800 in high value, $30,800 in average value, and $19,100 in low value. I'm not going to commit to being 100% on this, but apparently according to the Chrysler registry, there are only 10 cars known to exist out of the 1164 Coronet R/T convertibles built in 1969. If the next owner of this car would have the number of these convertibles verified through Chrysler it would make this car even more valuable. It has become increasingly harder to find a nice solid Mopar B-body convertible. With the proper tribute restoration this car is capable of bringing huge money at any of the live auctions. This car has incredible investment potential! This auction is "No Reserve", so bid now and bid often!! Don't miss your chance at being the spectacle of your neighborhood. You have to enjoy being the center of attention wherever you go, because it's hard to make it down the street without people wanting to talk about this car. I try to show and describe everything I can think of when I list a car for sale. My goal is to always make any potential buyer knowledgeable and happy with their purchase. Please ask as many questions as you like if you feel I may have left something out. All questions and concerns will be answered in a timely fashion. I pride myself in answering every question with the utmost honesty in explicit detail. Kindly only bid what you are willing to spend to see yourself in the drivers seat of this rare find. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
