Vehicle Detail
1970 VW Westfalia for sale. I bought this last year in Vail, CO and have decided to part with it because I finally decided it's better for me to have just one vehicle. I have done quite a bit w/ this VW since buying it. Drove it to Seattle from central California and back this past winter. That and the trip from Colorado to southern CA last year are the only 2 long trips I've taken it on. Work done on vehicle during the past year: -new/refurbished 1600 cc single port engine & oil cooler (& engine mount) now has 6,400 miles on it -new Goodyear tires - front brakes and fuse box replaced - new generator - new battery and starter - just got reverse lights fixed - so now all signals & lights are working - had every valve adjustment & oil change completed during engine "break-in" I have paperwork for all of this work and more. I am not sure how many miles this van has traveled before I owned it. There is an Arkansas inspection sticker on the windshield and do not know where it has been besides Colorado & Arkansas (& Oregon and Washington of course). A few things that could be fixed are some areas of the interior and windshield. There are a couple cracks in the windshield. I bought a windshield seal but never got around to finding a windshield to replace the current one. There is one working interior light in the back. Bed folds out and is actually pretty comfy. The cot that used to be in the top "pop out area" is gone but the mesh is still intact in the pop top. There is no radio/stereo. I never installed one and it didn't come with one. The only area w/ sufficient amount of rust in under the driver's floorboard. I have never had a problem w/ the area due it being covered by the rubber mat. I included a photo of this area and the windshield cracks. It actually gets about 27 mpg on the freeway. The speedometer is off. 70 mph is actually 55 mph so I have just learned to drive it w/ this in mind. Also comes w/ a Bentley "official service manual" for '68 through '79 bus' & station wagons & a spare tire. All in all I have put in over $5,000 into this van in just about 14 months and I hate to part w/ it but really need to right now. I really can't think of anything else to say about it right now. I'll add more if I can think of anything. Feel free to ask any questions. Happy bidding...
