Vehicle Detail

Call me if you need more info on this BEFORE you bid. *** NO TRADES *** No giving out the reserve price *** This is a very unique vintage race car. It was professionally built back in the 70's down in Texas from a totally rust free car. It ran the drag racing circuits as the " Orange Crush". Body off the frame build. Hasn't been street driven since the early 70's. The old hot rod was found minus driveline in it's original micro gold flake and racing orange paint with micro silver flake and white top, sitting in storage. The paint is still very nice and shinny for being 35+ years old. Of course there are some minor flaws being that old, but it still shows very well. No need at all for a re-paint. In fact, it would be a crying shame to paint this car. Keep it in it's original "Orange Crush" war paint for the Nostalgia drags. The chrome and stainless trim are in excellent condition. The guy that brought it back to life, did so with mostly vintage parts. This is a must see car as the pictures don't do it justice. Let's start with the frame. It was professionally built from the ground up using most of the original frame but narrowed in the back. The 12 bolt Chevy rear end is set up as a slider with traction bars. The axles are actually 9" Ford racing axles cut down, with Ford drum brakes. Evidently, this was the fix for 12 bolt "C" clip problems before "C" clip eliminators were invented. The rear gears are 5:57 with a locker. The front end is a dropped and drilled straight axle from a Chevy truck with the original 54 Chevy car front drum brakes modified to fit the spindles. This is a great set-up and capable of holding up to a lot of horsepower. The full cage is connected to many places on the frame. A very sturdy and safe car. The interior is basically for race only at this time with just one seat and harness. Another race seat comes with the car. I was going to adapt the car to the street since our race track ( Gateway International ) has shut down. I stopped with that thought after making exhaust with mufflers and switching to the street tires. This car is an awesome nostalgia race car / gasser, just the way it is, so the decision was made to leave it alone and let someone else have fun at their drag strip with it. The complete drive line is newly rebuilt. Engine is a balance and blue printed 355 cu inch full roller Chevrolet small block. Speed Pro pistons. 555 Crower mechanical race cam. Summit 1.5 roller rockers. Deep sump oil pan. Heads are ported and polished with 2.02 / 1.76 stainless steel swirl polished valves. 64 CC chambers. Screw in studs. Heavy duty competition springs. Bronze guides. High torque mini starter and mini alternator. Vintage Summer Brothers real magnesium front distributer drive / timing chain cover. Later model Hilborn fuel injection. Hilborn mechanical front driven fuel pump. Vertex Ronco magneto. Remote mounted electric water pump. Hooker Super Comp fenderwell headers. This is hooked up to a 2 piece scatter shield with block saver plate. Hays 11" racing clutch set-up and flywheel. Muncie "rock crusher" M-22 4 speed. Hurst "V" gate shifter with line lock. Dyno-Tech 4" drive shaft with loop. 1350 U-joints. It has a rev limiter, Auto Meter guages, tac., and shift light. Car runs in the 10s with slicks. Fronts are 15 x 4 Ansens with street / strip racing tires. Rears are 15 x 12 Ansens with Hoosier 31x16.50R-15Lts. Front and rear windshields are glass and very nice. Side windows are Lexan. What you are bidding on is what you see in the pictures, nothing more. I do have lots of extra parts, glass, trim, window mechanisms, slicks, wheels, seats, tunnel ram, 4 speeds, Stainless steel trim, hood, etc. for this car, but that stuff is all negotiable to the winner of this very cool vintage race car after the auction ends. *** NO TRADES *** No giving out the reserve price *** Now for the business end of the auction. If your feedback rating is zero, or a low number, or your percentage is below 98%, you need to call me before you bid. If you don't I may cancel your bid. Dave 314-732-5925. if you have questions, call me, Dave 314-732-5925 BEFORE you bid, for honest answers. I will not accept trades of any kind. I encourage you, or someone you designate, to come by and check out the car before bidding on it. The car will speak for itself. The car does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. This can take up to 10 business days. I will not deliver the car unless you are very close. Price will depend on distance. If you plan on using a regular shipper, you better let them know that this car is not just a "turn the key" and start it up kind of car. The injection has to be primed to start the engine after it sits for a few hours. Not something for someone without injection knowledge to be doing. This minor process can be eliminated though by pressurizing the gas tank, or by elevating the gas tank (moving it on top of the trunk floor instead of under it ), adding an electric fuel pump, et., I just never messed with it. I also have a contact number for a guy that can convert this injection unit to EFI ( electronic fuel injection ) if you want to make a true street car out of it. Cost would be $2400.00. If you want to pay for the car in "full" by using PayPal, you will have to agree to pay for all fees including my fees also. If you are overseas, you need to call me first before bidding. Dave 314-732-5925. Deposit is only refundable if you can show me where the car does not match the above description. *** NO TRADES *** No giving out the reserve price ***There, I think that about sums things up. Call me with any other questions. Rest assured that you could not begin to build this car for what the buy it now price is. I also have this car advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Dave 314-732-5925 *** NO TRADES *** No giving out the reserve price *** F.Y.I. The 55 Chevy gasser in the background is sold and gone. Be the first guy on the block with an injected car !!!! *** WARNING *** Not for someone who does not want a lot of attention !!!! Not for the weak hearted !!!! *** NO TRADES *** On May-30-11 at 18:49:56 PDT, seller added the following information: For those of you that do not read listings to the end. Yes, the 55 Gasser in the background is sold and gone. For those of you interested in the 54. I was buffing out a different car yesterday and decided to buff out and wax the 54 since it was a nice day and I had the time. The paint always looked great on this car, but I'd say it is now much better than I previously described it in the listing. In fact, I'd put the paint at a 9 out of 10. The color depth is fantastic. The chrome and stainless trim really polished up great also. The detail work is also exceptional. The pictures just do not do it justice. I also fired it up for the first time in months. It popped right off and started to rattle the windows. The sound and exhaust fumes literally brought a tear to my eyes. If you genuinely interested in this car, you may never see it at this very low reserve price again. And, if the car is not as described above, I will gladly refund your deposit. No questions asked. Have a great day, Dave
