Vehicle Detail
Hello, You are bidding on a 1990 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 Turbo FWD. The 4G63T engine in this vehicle was completely rebuilt in 2006 at approximately 141,000 miles. The block was bored .030 over. It was then fitted with strengthened aluminum 8.5:1 pistons. The rods were reconditioned and new rod and main bearings were installed. ARP rod bolts were used when assembling the shortblock. The entire head was rebuilt with new valve guides, lifters, titanium intake valves and inconel exhaust valves. The intake and exhaust ports were ported and polished to match the intake/exhaust gaskets. The longblock was assembled with a multi-layer metal head gasket and ARP head studs. The failure prone auxiliary balance shafts and belts were removed with a professional delete kit. Every gasket in the engine was replaced with OEM gaskets. A new OEM timing belt kit was installed as well. The intake manifold was port matched to the head. The vehicle was outfitted with a new Big 16G turbo capable of producing 350hp. A high performance turbo oil feed line was installed that provides a healthy supply of oil directly from the oil pump. A high performance oil pump was also installed at the time of the rebuild. The new OEM exhaust manifold was also installed. The exhaust gases exit via a ported and polished turbo elbow that is fitted to a massive 3'' SS downpipe. The downpipe is mated to the stock exhaust system without a CAT. The vehicle has no turbo creep problems and is only modestly louder than stock. The A/C system and much of the emissions/EVAP system was removed at the time of the rebuild to eliminate vacuum problems and reduce weight. The transmission is stock (the trans oil was replaced at the time of the rebuild). A Stage II Exedy clutch was installed at the time of the rebuild in addition to a new slave cylinder. The shift linkage bushings have been replaced with solid aluminum bushings. The clutch grips great and still feels stock. The car has a new starter and a new ECU with updated capacitors that are guaranteed not to fail (unlike the highly unreliable stock caps). The fuel injectors were professionally cleaned and flow-tested at the time of the rebuild. The spark plugs/wires were all replaced with the proper OEM NGK components. The car has a high performance air intake pipe. The car also has a new battery (replaced 2 weeks ago). The struts/shocks and springs were all replaced with high performance tokiko components. The springs provide a 1.5'' drop. The car has 17'' Mitsu EVO style alloy wheels and high performance Nitto/Wanli tires with plenty of tread left. The drive shafts have also been replaced. The brakes were replaced with cross-drilled rotors and high performance pads. The car also has in-dash air/fuel and boost gauges. Various sensors, including the oxygen sensor, have also been replaced. The car has a Mitsu EVO shift knob. The vehicle is also capable of data logging and on-the-fly tuning thanks to a proprietary cable attached to the ECU and a Palm III Palm Pilot equipped with the requisite software (this system is already installed and functioning in the vehicle and is included in the auction). For those of you not familiar with data-logging, you can monitor various parameters of the car's tuning systems. You can then download the recorded data to your computer and use it to further refine air/fuel and timing maps, etc. I am probably forgetting some other parts that were replaced or upgraded. As you can see, just about every drivetrain component in this vehicle has been replaced or rebuilt with a high performance or OEM variant. Only quality parts were used during the rebuild, which is why the car runs and drives with no major issues. The labor for the engine rebuild alone was $800, not to mention the $2000 that was spent on parts. I planned to use this vehicle as a street/strip weekend car but I just don't have the time to enjoy it. The car has never been raced or abused. Originally, I had planned to upgrade the intercooler, MAF, BOV, and install a boost controller (which is not installed but will be included in the auction). The aforementioned modifications will easily produce 300-350 horsepower from this engine (the engine can handle a lot more power; the 4G63T is a bulletproof engine and this one has been rebuilt with top-notch parts). Only Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and NAPA Gold oil filters have been used since the rebuild. I have not had the car on a dyno but estimate the current horsepower output is a conservative 250hp, due to the limitations of the stock MAF and intercooler. The car is complete and runs and drives fine as is. It starts right up with no issues. The seats and upholstery are in great condition. There is NO RUST anywhere on the car. Now that I have listed all of the work that has been done to the car, I also want to address the flaws and imperfections that this 21 year old vehicle has. -The clear coat on the paint has oxidation damage, primarily on the hood and hatch. -The car idles a little high (1200rpm), primarily because most of the vacuum system has been removed and the head has been ported/polished. -There is no headliner -The lateral movement in the transmission gate is a bit sticky -The driver's side door lock does not work, the passenger side works fine.-The driver's side door handle was replaced prior to my purchase of the car and does not match the vehicle paint color.-The starter is engaged by a flip switch, not by the ignition switch.-The power steering fluid leaks a little bit intermittently from the power steering pump (needs a new seal). Be advised that this vehicle is emissions exempt in Illinois due to its age. The engine has approximately 15,000 miles on it since the rebuild. This was my secondary vehicle and was infrequently driven on the weekends over the last 5 years. I am selling the car with NO RESERVE, so high bidder wins! Please do not bid if you don't intend to pay. Ebay charges a hefty fee to sell automobiles using their service and I don't appreciate non-serious bidders wasting my time and money. I am a private seller so there will be no additional fees above the winning bid amount. I will accept payment in the form of Paypal, certified cashiers/bank check, or cash. I WILL NOT accept personal checks. I have the clear title in hand and will sign it over to the buyer once I receive payment. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them through the Ebay portal. Winning bidder is responsible for arranging shipment of vehicle, if required. I prefer the vehicle be picked up in person. I am located in the northern suburbs of Illinois, approximately 45 minutes north of Chicago and 45 minutes south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Good luck and happy bidding. Someone will get a heck of a bargain from this auction!
