1968 Triumph Spitfire Mark II - Original California Black license plates plus plenty of restoration parts included! I am moving at the end of the month and sadly need to get rid of my "project car" - which has been sitting in my garage, largely untouched, since I acquired it just over 8 years ago. The car is in mixed condition - the exterior has had some restoration work by the previous owner, and the mechanicals seem entirely intact. The interior, however, needs lots of work - the inside panels & carpet have been removed, and the seats (while present) are pretty much shot. There is no convertible top or cover frame. It does, however, have a radio... :-) Also note that the wet spots under the car in the photos are water from washing the car, not oil! Bad choice on my part for a place to take the photos, but since the car doesn't run currently, I had limited mobility... In terms of condition - the body shows some signs of rust, but since this car has a California history, the rust is limited to the normal spots (battery tray, and maybe a quarter-sized floor rust-through behind the driver's seat). The clutch pedal is fully depressed so it needs some work in that area, and when I pulled the car out of the garage for the photos for this listing, the rear wheels seem to have become locked (I've had the car up on wheel dollies with the emergency brake set for years, so I'm guessing the hubs have just seized slightly, which should be easy enough to resolve). The last time I did any work on the car was about 6 years ago, when I was able to get it to turn over when I tried to start it, so the engine itself seems fine - for all I know, if I had added gas to the tank it may have even started - but I'm guessing it will need carb work, etc. in order to make it run. The last owner of the car also included a ton of parts - some removed from the vehicle during the restoration process, others ordered new in order to install as part of the restoration. All of these - plus a shop manual and some parts catalogs - are stowed neatly in the trunk and will be included in the auction. I have the original title, which was signed over to me when I bought the car - and it also includes the original black California license plates, which look pretty cool. While I'm sad to have to get rid of this car (since it really is a classic), for me it seems I'm unlikely to ever get around to giving this car the attention it needs in order to run again - and after 8 years of doing nothing with it, I really can't justify lugging it with me as I move. I had originally planned to donate the car for recycling, but got a twinge of guilt and cancelled at the last minute in order to give someone else a chance to have a low-cost "project car" of their own, and hopefully get it running again. As such, I've set the starting price of this auction very low, with no reserve. I do need to ensure that the car is removed from my current residence by the end of the month, so I'll need to make sure that buyers are able to both pay quickly and either tow or ship the car before May 30th. Given the low auction price, I'll need a deposit of either $250 (or the final auction price, if its less than that) via PayPal within 24h, with full payment within 7 days. I'll also be listing the car locally, so I reserve the right to cancel the auction early if needed. Thanks for looking (and hopefully bidding!)
