Vehicle Detail

1971 Dodge Challenger Vin tells everything about it's beginning - JH23G1B353663 J = Dodge Challenger H = High 23 = 2 Door Hardtop G = 318 230HP 1-2BBL 8 CYL 1 = 1971 B = Dodge Main, Hamtramck, MI, USA 353663 = 253662th Vehicle No BS here! This "seriously" was some little old ladies car. It's a auto trans, floor console A/C car with power steering and manual big drum brakes. About 15 yrs ago the previous owner bought this car from an older woman and then tastefully proceeded to turn it into a 1/4 mile bracket car. He even built the car's original 318 into a lil high revving smokin stroker that pushed this car to low 13's and a few times into high 12's. I still have that original engine running strong, but it now resides in my 71 Demon. I bought the car about 7 yrs ago with thoughts of cloning it to an R/T. But during my first ride in it I quickly changed my mind and began campaigning it from to time at our local drag strip where it earned it's nick-name "Wicked". It's a very quick, consistent and fun car and inevitably became one of the favorite MOPAR's in my collection that I have owned. However for the last 4 yrs I have had no time to enjoy it and it has sit in my shop rarely touched. Now I'm currently working on a pro-touring A-body build and as much as I hate to let this car go I must for the sake of my new project's build. Someone will get a really solid Challenger and as it sits "turn-key" can go to the track. Or, with little work you can easily put it back on the street "legally". Title is clear and in my possession. I have sold several MOPAR's here on e-bay over the years with NO negative feedback or issues. I've always represented what each car is and it's condition. Every buyer to date has been more than satisfied as my feedback will show. Drivetrain: Car now has a potent 1970 date coded "Maund Motorworks" built 383 BB, Demon 850 carb, Weiland intake, Mopar .509 purple shaft hydraulic cam, MSD ignition, built 727 Trans with external cooler and shift kit, 2500 stall. Driveshaft loop, 8 3/4 limited slip with 456 richmond gears. Green bearings and moser axles, New Khumo front, Nitto 555 Drag radials rear and Centerline wheels. Interior: Interior is as original and is very clean with exception of custom engraved aluminum Challenger script door inserts and "Mopar Performance" console insert. Currently has Racing seats but for extra I can include a good set of correct buckets. Back seat is excellent as pictured. Car still has original headliner although it's time to replace as moths and mice have gotten it over the years. Paint & Body: About 4 yrs ago the car received it's first ever "freshened up" original color "Autumn Bronze Metallic" paint job. It by no means is show quality. But for the track and times I took the car to local shows and cruises it's displayed well enough. The only rust I have found so far was in the very lower outside rear 1/4 panels which has been repaired with replacement metal from YearOne during it's repaint. The inside panels and trunk are still in great shape. If it wasn't for the trunk being cut out to allow for a racing fuel cell it would have been in perfect shape. There is also light rust where the hood hinges bolt in. But that is easily repairable. There is also a small patch on passenger floor. Car does have it's original door & window brightwork/trim in good shape. Missing only the front hood trim. Rear deck lid trim is all there but I would replace. Has new door and trunk weather stripping and both window felts/seals.Currently has fiberglass race weight Magnum style hood and front bumper. But can provide a solid "standard" style Challenger hood and a solid core front bumper, again for an extra fee if buyer requests. Chassis/Frame: Frame and chassis all in good shape with only light exterior rust which is to be expected for a 40 yr. old car. Front end components all replaced several years ago and in solid shape still. Car has been sub-framed. Great if your looking for a more solid ride. Bad if your really wanting to restore car to factory original. Overall it shouldn't take too much to return this Challenger to street cruising duty! Headlights, blinkers, brake lights, interior lights, etc, all function great. Missing is the original fuel tank and lines, horn, original front buckets, the complete wiper assembly and A/C firewall components. (removed for weight savings.) Will post a link to better quality than e-bay pictures including trunk in next 24hrs. "Partial Trade" possibly considered, especially any 60-70's muscle or MOPAR car/truck complete or project. Let me know what you have? But at least 1/2 to 2/3 cash is desired in a trade/cash scenario. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool. On May-19-11 at 16:20:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several people ask about the current drivetrain setup on the car and how it ran. Answer is: I've never had the car at the track since I installed the 383. I put that drivetrain in there about 4 years ago then got too busy to go to the track that year. Unfortuneately the following year our local track closed and we just recently have a new track open that is an 1/8th mile but I've yet to go. There is nothing wrong with the car that I can tell what so ever. I have run the car around the rural roads by my shop testing/tuning on it andI have taken it to several cruise nights at our local sonic here and several show events. The drive-train appears to be very solid. I'd suspect the car will run high 12's at my altitude pretty consistently with the current combination. It defineately pulls hard that I can tell you. But truthfully I made the engine swap. Got busy with life and my business/work and have since not had any time to really enjoy the car. However it has always been stored inside. Gas was never allowed to sit in it and all fluids have been kept properly in it.
