Vehicle Detail
IF YOU HAVE EVER WANTED AN UNMOLESTED 63 SPLIT WINDOW COUPE, YOUR SEARCH IS OVER..... I have owned this piece of automobile history since 2004 having purchased it from its long time owner/collector located in Colorado. The car has an interesting and well documented history having been initially purchased by the Hertz Corporation for use in their Denver Office as an advertising vehicle. The car has never been restored and is a totally original, numbers matching true survivor vehicle, that was scored by NCRS in 1985 garnering a 91.5 with most of the deducts being due to lack of cleaning. Under my ownership the car has had a complete undercarriage rebuild with all rubber items replaced, ball joints, tie rods, bushings, stabilizer arms, and now drives out like a new car. Additionaly all of the under dash wiring was replaced as well with the clock and other gauges being rebuilt. In 2007 the original carb and fuel pump were removed, reubilt and reinstalled, with the engine bay undergoing a refreshing with all new hoses and wires. Any replacement wear parts were either NOS or GM/Delco. The car does sit on a set of non-stock Michlens (retro style) and has a non-stock tar top battery. All the core components are factory, with documentation and born on dates, including block, carb, distributor, alternator, intake and exhaust manifolds, coil, voltage regulator, starter, mirror, expansion tank, etc... The car comes with very detailed documention, including the original invoice (commerical) dated 4/17/63, owners guide, Warrenty booklet made out to the Hertz Corporation in Denver, Colorado. Included are two 1963 Corvette shop manuals, one well used the other mint, along with a 483 page Chevorlet Accessory Installation Manual, and a file of 1963 magazines containing the intial road test of the 63 Vette... ie., Road and Track, Car and Driver, etc. Also included are old titles, research letters by the previous collector owner, and so on... CONDITION AND OPTIONS... Perhaps, this car survived due to the basic nature of the vehicle.. Engine is the 250 hp version, hooked up to the two speed Power Glide tranny, and has a working WonderBar radio.. The car was completed on April 17th 1963 and shipped to Luby Chevrolet in Denver. The interior is red and in very decent condition. Carped is a bit faded but nice as well. Dash is in excellent condition and all guages work.. In the time I have owned the car it has been driven a total of 805 miles and stored in a tempeture controlled shop. The car is a no hit bodythat is straight as a pin and has undergone one repaint years ago. Chrome is excellent, as is the trim excepting the fuil cap cover that has some patena. The engine compartment is all GM excepting the previously noted battery and very clean with all ignition shielding in place. The car starts, and drives out very well.. Please understand you are looking at a very well care for but unrestored vehicle. There is some normal wear items on the car which to me only adds to its charactor. The Reserve is fairly set so bid with confidence. This vehicle is well worth consideration by someone wanting an orignal car to use as a basis for a 100 point restoration or a really special driver. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day...
