Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville wagon with 21k showing on the clock. I have no idea how many times around it's gone. The good news is that it is a rare survivor, extremely solid with no floor or frame rot (even the spare tire well has only the factory drain hole) and it runs and drives well. The bad news is what you see - it's hit everything but the lottery. Not a single option to mention - the cheapest Bonneville you've ever seen. Even the a/c compressor you see was part of a (now removed) underdash aftermarket unit. Zero options on this one. 389 4 barrel runs well, TH400 shifts well, brakes work but hard pedal and rears are noisy suspension is tired but it runs and drives down the road. Surprisingly dry inside even though it's been outdoors for years - no mold or rot or evident leaks. What you see it what you get. I had a ton of ambition when I bought this but after 6 months of doing nothing with it, it's time to move on. I don't think this is a daily driver - I wouldn't drive it far (drove 30 miles here) before checking it out. NO RESERVE. Questions? Click "ask seller a question" or call Fred at 315-246-0612. Please allow time for a response as I also work 8-4 at a regular job in south Seattle. Car available for showing in Renton Fairwood area after 5:30 pm by appointment. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing, ticking or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Good battery & charging system. Starts easy, choke works right. Idles a little rough but smooths out about 1200 rpm and runs strong. TRANSMISSION: Performs as designed. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all three forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. Shifts well. EXTERIOR: Body: Body has dents on nearly every panel. Only the left rear door should really be reskinned - rest are workable. The only body rust is low on rear quarters beneath the bright trim, and a spot in front of the right rear wheel. Extremely solid. Paint: Paint is dead, repainted spots, bad. Other: Chrome front bumper is okay but I have a better one with the car. Rear was torched off after an accident left a foot of it hanging out. I have a sedan bumper but it is not correct - tailgate won't open with it - but the end is the same if you want to do some welding. Rear bumpers for these are very hard to find. Undercarriage is solid with no salt scale or crust. Dent in bottom of fuel tank and spare tire well but no rust! Floors and cargo pan are SOLID with NO holes. Door jambs and underhood sheet metal are very nice in these hidden areas as seen in pics. Solid frame all around. There is a small crack lower left in the windshield out of view; other glass good. INTERIOR: The interior has some good stuff. Dash and door vinyl is all nice. Some door panels need carpet and armrest covers but panels are fine. Front seat has a 6 inch seam split about driver's left shoulder but repairable, rear has a one inch tear in seat bottom but patchable - I don't think you have to replace the seats. Carpet on floors is okay. Headliner has some holes, cargo side panels need recovered, carpet on cargo deck needs replaced. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, button horn, wipers, etc.) Wiper arms removed but with the car (they are, I kid you not, duct taped to the blades, and I figured to fix that.) Heater and fan work, am radio crackly. Rear power window works but you have to hotwire it - something disconnected between the dash switch and window motor. DRIVEABILITY: Drives out well enough. Steering is tight, suspension a bit bouncy. Alignment is good. Brakes work but rears are noisy and pedal is hard. Tires are mismatched and hold air and have some treard. Solid exhaust pipes with no leaks. Rear end is quiet. Decent driver. Short version: Small deposit as listed (but fast) by overnight mail or Paypal within 24 hours. Balance due in 5 days by cash in person, wire transfer, or Wells Fargo cashier's check. Will meet you at location or your transporter by appointment. No administrative fee on this auction. Any other costs - tax, emissions inspection, registration, etc. are buyer's responsibility - see full terms. 30 days to pick up. Temporary tags available at local license bureau. Inspections are encouraged, but by appointment only - please email or call.Note that pickup times are by appointment only also - just call!
